haha I'll meet you there if you do. Would love to see pics when your job is done. Some guys on the forums recommended telling the service center not to touch the finish after it comes off the line—did you do that?

Also...color?

Did you order Model S?

I got the gray metallic. I think the paint imperfections coming off the line were more of a problem with earlier cars. I asked my detailer and he said that they haven't been seeing many issues. They can paint correct before whatever finish is applied but that is suboptimal too since they have to remove the factory clear coat. However, I would definitely not let any nonprofessional wash it.

The detail before delivery at the service center should be safe imo.

Rocket launches are on me. Interior is black leather + carbon fiber with black header, plus tech package (obv), supercharger & smart air suspension for our ridic steep driveway. Wheels are 19" cyclone which I'm taking to Electrotech Powder Coating in San Marcos for more badassery. (they'll look just like the $6k 21"s)

Wait you said launches on you but you never actually confirmed. You got the D? Sounds like a quality build. I got the tan leather since my last car was dark and I wanted a change. I really like the stock wheels and hearing how fast people are ripping through the 21s I think the 19s are a better choice although it will probably not perform quite as well with the D.

The wrap is done on mine and available for pickup tomorrow. If you want to see it, it will be in their shop all day and you can cruise by or I can send you pics.

Re: MHFR Low-Content Thread

scenario:

You are golfing as a guest at a country club that is not super fancy. You've played there several times. It's a nice course/place but also the kind of place people bring their own beers, cigars, etc to, and no dress code is ever really enforced. You understand golf etiquette very well (your dad was a golf pro) and you never slow anything down or do anything out of line...

You are teeing off on the 4th hole and the club pro rolls up and is like, "Geez, I hate to do this, and it's really silly, but someone called in and complained that your shirt is untucked." The 4-some in front of you is part of your group (your step-dad, brother, etc), and the 4-some behind you appear to be some random yuppy country club hacks...

You obv tuck your (collared) shirt in because you are a guest, but what if anything else do you do/say to anyone?

Notes: you are competing against the group in front of you. You are playing out of your mind so far and def don't want to let your team down by tilting. But also you are not the very best at taking the high road.

Someone in your group (that you are playing against) called it in as a sophisticated needle to get you off your game. Gotta be one level up and fake tilt openly to them at the situation and say how pissed you are, when in reality deep down you're only thinking about Vegas and the ***kin' Mirage.

Then continue on with A-game. Easy game.

Any recommendations for housing in Vegas during WSOP? Looked at VRBO and AirBnB but couldn't find what I wanted. Not looking for anything baller, just a decent apartment/condo preferably close to the strip.

Interesting. My most driven/perfectionist friend (who I also respect as a film critic) absolutely loved Whiplash as well. I sat down to watch it with high hopes (this is problematic ime) and most of the movie I was thoroughly unimpressed- mainly with the writing and the shock appeal angle that was taken. I honestly felt like I was watching an after school special and I wanted to tell both teacher and student, "OK guys, we get it, you can settle down a little now."

Maybe ^^^ just speaks to how driven a person I'm not?

K. I need to see that movie...

Because I can't think of ANY movie that measures up to Birdman. The dialogue, the pace, the acting, the music, the fact that every single character is both awesome AND ****ed in the head, the foreshadowing, the surprises in typically obvious spots, the room for interpretation throughout, the insanely ballsy ending that could have destroyed an otherwise great film (but instead made it legendary art imo), etc.

I felt like I was on a ride throughout. I mean it was completely effortless to watch ime, like the director was just massaging my brain and perfectly dosing me with some crazy drug for 2 hours. And then boom- it ends, the ride/massage/drug trip is over, and now I'm REALLY thinking...

And I love what the movie got me thinking about/all the messages I received. And more importantly, I love how the movie went about being about something incredibly basic yet also incredibly important/unsolved by the masses since the beginning of time. It never forced anything on me, just hit me with "a bunch of tiny little hammers", and then finally it mashed me over the head with a sledge hammer as the credits began to roll.

***Edward Norton's responses to Emma Stone's two questions (one about her ass, one about what he would like to do to her) were just stone genius/I will never forget them I'm pretty sure.

Grand Budapest has some huge shoes to fill imo. The only other movie in recent memory that took me on a cool effortless ride and then smashed my brain in at the end was The Drop, but even that movie doesn't compare to Birdman imo.

Re: MHFR Low-Content Thread

I loved Birdman too. Blew me away. Have not seen Whiplash yet but my friend also said he liked it better than Birdman. The movie was like a deconstruction and rebuilding of the ego.

I was skeptical as to how much Edward Norton's character was really about the "art." I think he was just as needy as Michael Keaton's character, but just shielded his own ego by constantly pretending not to care (about money, fame, reputation).

Re: MHFR Low-Content Thread

Hey guys, I don't wanna make a whole thread about this but something happened at the table last night that really pissed me off.

It was a 5/10 game and the 7 and 8 seat were friends. The 8 seat used to play 1/2 with me, we both moved up to 2/5 at around the same time, and are now both playing 5/10. Anyway, the 7 seat is an obvious boss who it seems is coaching the 8 seat. The following happens:

Seat 7 opens, seat 8 flats, I 3bet IP, they both call. The actual board doesn't matter, what matters is they both checked to me on flop I cbet, they both called. Turn checked through, and on riv the 8 seat leads for ~1/3 pot. I fold and the 7 seat agonizes, tanks for a while, and folds. IMMEDIATELY after, before the 8 seat can muck his hand, the 7 seat grabs the 8 seat's cards, peaks at them, and then chucks them into the muck as fast as he can before I can enforce show one show all. The dealer said the hand is irretrievable and that it's too late now.

After the game broke I asked the 7 seat wtf that was about, and he said some BS like ''in these games, people show their neighbor their cards all the time...it's just something that's done, it's not a big deal''

Is this true or do I have a right to be pissed?

sorry for derailing you guys' movie discussion lol

Re: MHFR Low-Content Thread

I would not make a big deal out of it. People do show their neighbor cards all the time.

If I was in the hand and someone shows their neighbor his cards before mucking, I will politely ask to see it as well. If it hits the muck usually the person just tells me since I'm not being a d*ck about it and it is only fair to tell the table. If they want to be lame and not show, then screw em. Who cares.
