Agreed Curry and D Rose way different styles. Just saying if D Rose maintained his peak he might have been GOAT. It's really hard to have longevity at the top of your game/the league (and not just because of injuries). Lebron and MJ have already achieved it though. Curry has missed considerable time in his career already (even missed a few weeks this playoffs) and his run at the top is only ~2 years old...
I love Curry and his game, and it seems like he's plays at new levels sometimes, but GSW is deep af and amazing all around and their coaching is good- and still he is very lucky Klay went bananas in OKC or the narrative would be a lot different right now (Westbrook was destroying him for a while that series). Maybe he got lucky last year too in that he was facing Lebron, TT and a bunch of guys who legit wouldn't make the rotation on his team. Run good snow balls sometimes...
AI was a warrior with more charisma than everyone we've mentioned. He was not on the same level with these guys as a basketball player, but beloved for good reason. Prob a pretty big fluke he was so durable given how many times he hit the floor- or maybe it was genetics or something, idk.
Imvho.
meh. im not convinced on the "cover all spots" argument. by that notion, only a couple positions can ever be considered for GOAT. point guard and center wouldn't qualify.(magic being the anomaly. played center rookie year in playoffs i believe.)
Also, i can't recall lebron ever really shutting down other allstars on a consistent basis. MJ on the other hand, got a hard on for defense as much as scoring. He got away with murder at times but salivated at the opportunity to guard the opposing team's star.
i agree lebron is a beast of a physical specimen. and athletic. just has an ugly shot
also agree on vision, unselfishness(on the court at least wrt taking the shot) and basketball IQ.
i just question his leadership skills though. he acts like a drama queen at times. his use of social media or direct media to put his teammates on blast, as an attempt at motivation, is short sighted. idk, it seems like after a game gsw would enjoy a night out together as a team but lebron would much rather fly down to south beach and party with dwade.
perhaps none of that stuff matters from a GOAT perspective and we should only analyze the stats. but i believe the intangibles somehow have their place.
all i can say if he doesn't win this year with everyone being healthy, him kicking out his coach half way through the season while on top of the eastern conference, doing more drama queen stuff about where he might play next, ...
rings shouldnt matter in the discussion but they always find their way in the conversation. i still put lebron over kobe(easily). but just below mj wrt GOAT.
last but not least... yes to lol sample size on curry. but gotta love those half court shots while turnin your back on em, "in yo face!" just wow.
and wat about AI taking 76ers to the finals with a d-league team. thats heart! also if you haven't seen it yet, there's a showtime docu. on AI and the whole "practice" interview. It was taking way out of context. kinda unfortunate how his career ended. he couldn't embrace the mainstream. had to keep it hood!
