Arrow Live@The Bike:4betting200bbs deep (video)

Ignore the announcer, she has no idea where the action is or what is even going on....History plays a role in this hand and to why I played it in such fashion so I'll try to give a brief explanation on players involved.

Seat 1 is Chad...I view him as a competent "internet" type of player, and from our table talks throughout the night he most likely views me as thinking/competent as well, and being tight aggressive. We tangled earlier in the night where I fired 2 shells and he raised my turn bet with a straight draw and I folded.

Seat 2 is Chris who is super loose aggressive. We have played other sessions together and his vpip is 90% but is more than competent is not an idiot, definitely a smart player. He views me as tight aggressive, possibly borderline nitty.

Seat 9 is JT, an amateur poker player and is an actor, super cool guy but definitely an amateur. He plays super tight, have played 10+ sessions with him have never seen him without monsters when shown down plays very nitty/passive.

My image at this point is pretty solid, I've only shown down pretty solid hands. Game is about 3 hours into session, and session is pretty aggressive/thin bets being made etc.

Hero: Stack $1500
Chad: Covers all
Chris: $1300-1500ish
JT: $365

Hero raises $25 87 UTG
JT calls.
Chad 3 bets to $80 from CO
Chris cold calls $80.
Hero 4 bets to $240....

I 4 bet because in my mind JT flatting my raise, then having to face a 3bet and then 4bet by me is a super strong line so I'm not concerned about him. Chris/Chad are smart enough to know I've been playing tight/aggressive and we are deep enough for me to barrel if need be...just wanted to see what unbiased opinions thought as far as if this is viewed (as described with game flow, players, this exact situation, etc.) as a spew....you can watch this video to see the hand play out...

lol

the guy cold calling A7dd is pretty loose/ borderline bad.

good spot to 4bet, if you think squeezer is light. also, if you think the black guy is tight/nitty I can see him folding AQ with "only 25 invested".

i think calling is fine too. sucks if you call and black dude ships tho.

hey OP, is poker what you do for as your main source of income?

edit: nevermind. i thought you were "chris". I played with him earlier last friday before he moved to the L@TB table and thought his behavior was kinda douchy

Re: Live@The Bike:4betting200bbs deep (video)

is there a question in the op?

in theory i think the 4 bet is good, but with 3 other players showing interest in this pot, and being in the worst position, and with a short stack yet to react to the 3bet, i think i let it go..........or if i'm gonna 4ball it, i think i try to maximize fold equity and size it bigger, say 330ish.

a good live pro recently reminded me how important position is in big bet poker. he said, "i've just been folding everything oop and calling with everything in position".

Re: Live@The Bike:4betting200bbs deep (video)

this is pure spew. these guys are so loose there is little value in playing a hand from such early position that flops weak draws and weak pairs. since there's a straddle you are 2x shallower than before the straddle so you should adjust your strategy for that. even without the straddle you still want to play this hand in a single raised (or unraised) pot as you prefer as high an SPR as possible.

your open to 2.5x is terrible too (did you notice the straddle?) its just asking for people to call you in position with all kinds of **** and get owned postflop. with the black guy backraise 5 bet jamming AQ just proves his general disrespect for the super strong & polarized action in front of him or his "obliviousness" to a EP 4 bet range and the same for a squeezers 3b range over a EP open. dont make his play correct, just dont get out of line versus these loose donks. this game looks juicy as hell for anyone with enough patience to wait for standard valuetowning situations to arise. theres little to no reason to open 87s with short stacks behind you (imagine cutting everyones stack into 1/2 whenever theres a straddle)

i find that a 2.5x open is just asking to get squeezed so unless you are planning on 4betting this hand right from the beginning (and hoping for a light squeeze for this opportunity)...i think you are just setting yourself up for a lot of bad things to happen. if i was gonna play this hand i would have rather opened it for 4x and hope to thin the field. you are less likely to get squeezed and then you can just cbet that dry flop profitably, definitely barrel that turn, and AQ never sees the river.

Re: Live@The Bike:4betting200bbs deep (video)

after watching more of the earlier footage its not as bad as i thought just because they are all so terrible...but I'd probably just adjust to games like this by widening my value range instead of trying to get tricky. they are playing so many reverse implied odds type hands you need to just play any 2 goodish broadways & try to flop bigger pairs with better kickers like you did with the AJ>QJ hand. the "normal" advantage to playing a hand like 87s as the pfr is that you wont be dominated when you make pairs & flushes. In this game people are playing better 8's & 7's as well as playing better spades (and i dont just mean AQss but they'd probably play hands like K2ss for a raise).

they have you at 33% vpip about 3/4 of the way through the footage and you are 4th on the list with 2 of the 3 players above you over 50%. this is a great game IMO. looks like a nit's hunting grounds.

I don't like the 4bet and the open is questionable. Just flat and donk some flops.

Fold pre

Fold pre. As played, fold to the 3b. Deep 4bets (especially oop) have such a miniscule value range that aggressive players will exploit them pretty hard. Having said that, cool idea to post a vid, I'm just not smart enough to figure out how to watch it. I have a login and password, do I have to pay?

nvrmnd- figured it out
