Live 5-10 JJ super sick river spot

Game is a local 5-10 underground raked game, this particular night we are playing 2 games, a round of NL Holdem and a round of PL80. The game is playing super big and wild, lots of action and super deep stacks.

V1 is a new player to this game and I have never played with him before but for the last 12 hours we played together he maybe played 3 hands and almost always the nuts. He seemed to be a super nit. He also isn't used to playing this high and this deep even though he got in the game 7k. I don't believe I ever saw him open raise any pot all night, as he had the 2 maniacs on his direct right.

My image is very tight tonight because the avg price of a flop was 2-5 hundred and I showed big hands almost every showdown.

Eff stack $7,500 V1 covers me.

V1 opens to $75 UTG, I call with JJ, Btn calls $75, BB calls $75.

Flop: J95

Checks to me, I bet $250, only V1 calls.

Turn: 9
V1 checks, I check back (probably huge mistake there)

River: Q
V1 leads $425, I raise to $1100, V1 hems and haws asks the dealer to spread the pot and than raises $1700 more!! I……

As played, call because you checked the turn then raised river which looks bluffish

If u bet the turn and he calls then used the same river line or check raises you huge on river, then u could find a fold

Re: Live 5-10 JJ super sick river spot

A super nit is not 3betting 5's full, and his raise size is too small to be a bluff. I would probably raise river too, but I am not sure this is the best play vs this opponent. Anyone else at the table I am at least calling. Pretty sick spot because it seems like he can only have qq here and I would probably cry myself to sleep having folded this hand, and if shown a bluff would probably be too tilted to keep playing.

This, though I'm probably still not good enough to fold option #2.

I don't really see him opening UTG with 99 with the 2 super aggro maniacs on his right, which led me to believe the only hand he had was QQ. I also don't think he's raising the nut flush for value, because I'm assuming he's smart enough to know ill only call if he's beat. A buddy of mine thinks I had him smoked and that no player would call oop on the flop with just a pair of QQ, but he's an idiot and I let him know that. Also don't think this kid had the balls to bluff raise me after I let him know I had a hand on the river.

I don't think a "super nit" is ever 3 bet bluffing here. 5's full is a possibility but unlikely given the action. It seems like AK/AQ of clubs but when he 3 bets OTR (unless he's just getting stubborn) he almost always has 99 or QQ

Sick spot but a fold IMO

You got the third nuts and supernit bet/3bs the river insanely deep.. kinda dumb spot given action but enough reasons to find the muck ..

Turn c/back is the biggest mistake in this hand IMO, but I can't find a river fold.. Dunno how much of this is levelling due to our turn check, though.

Love your thinking lol, I ended up taking forever and the nit kid clocked me. My hand was dead because I couldn't click the call or fold button. I'm still crying myself to sleep and was so tilted I had to cash out of the sickest game ever.

Your river decision is irrelevant after making such a huge mistake on the turn.

Glad he called the clock on you.

Bet turn and call the river raise. If you "timed-out" because you can't decide to call or fold, then the decision is close to 50/50 to you. Then you should always call. It is that simple. EV to you is the same, but you will know if you made the right decision or not and can improve the next time.

This kind of thinking might turn you into a big calling station...
