Let's spew and hope for the best?

5/10 game, older fishier player limps mp makes it $40 I am in the HJ and look down at black 5s. Now I think for a bit and end up deciding folding is best, but as I'm about to fold I notice fish on mt left is throwing in a call so I call. Sb calls limp calls .

Flop- 678hhx
Sb leads for $200 I have him pegged as a kinda loose fish. I don't have a firm grasp of what his donkibg range is here but I'm guessing there's a decent amout of hands that aren't extremely strong and are trying to iso the $275 stack (he's got $1.3k) opener goes all in for $275 , hero jams for $1.7k.

Thoughts please, and feel free to be as brutal as u like.

Wtf why did you want to fold pre when should have wanted to call, and why did you want to go all in on the flop when you should have wanted to fold?

Lol, I'm in the middle of the worst DS of my life ($ wise) so my thinking maybe a tad fuzzy right now. I wanted to fold pre bc of the stack size of the opener. I was driving as i posted guess i forgot to mention opener only started hand with $300. As for flop, if I jam if I can get folds after my jam im getting 5/2 against a range I prob do ok against.

For those who think doing this with 55 is bad, what If we have 99 do things change?

You fold hands based on the stack size of your opponent?

Wot?

Re: Let's spew and hope for the best?

Pre (after you mention opener has $300) is a fold and flop is a spew.

Ok, maybe I didn't clarify in my last post. But since you think jamming flop is a losing play. If we have 99 do u think it makes it close enough to justify?

I think jamming flop with 99 would be -EV as well.

Re: Let's spew and hope for the best?

When I saw this title, I thought to myself "Oh I do this all the time, this should be a fun hand." But then I actually read it and am wondering what would possess you to do this!

I think fold, call and 3-bet pre all have their merits. You know old fish is at least calling, and knowing at least 1 other player is going to call makes this ok. Folding is still fine since you are still most likely playing vs a short stacker, and raising is really only optional if there is a chance you can steal, or are just like me and want to see how long I can possibly maintain a 20% win rate in flips.
As played, I think I just call flop since you can't get 3-bet and might be ahead or at least have solid equity and play in position, although folding is ok too but ship the flop is a big no.

Agree with others that as played this is very spewy and maybe warrants a break (just a suggestion...not trying to be a dick).

Also agree that doing it with 99 (especially black) is also -EV, but clearly is better since if you hit a 6 outer, there is much less chance you lose (and if it is a 9 u have the redraw). Still though, given the stacks described, sounds like it would have been better to just fold flop.

And I also see the merits of all three plays preflop. Situation/Villain dependent.

At the most you're drawing to a lower end of two straights. So yeah. Fold that. However I'd be repopping it to Iso the ss.
