Can he be triple barreling? Can he be triple barreling?

Non-action statements generally have some amount of truth to them. But V keeps talking about strength as well .. finally after giving up trying to cut his opponent a break he spouts off a very common weak hand reverse tell statement with the word fold in it.

I think all this adds up to a call most of the time ... but the friendly banter going on lends me to believe he is sincere here most of the time. 8x or JT .. GL

All the talk plus your friendly relationship before this hand unfolds, both of your ranges are uncapped, his rather large bet, I'm going to station pretty much any river. If you called the turn in tempo I'd lean toward a river fold as you've basically telegraphed your river intention to c/c, but tank-calling gives V the impression that one more bet with his T9ss, 99, etc type hands will fold you out. (He probably has you on a bluffcatcher, spades, pushing this further toward a call).

Neat hand. I do like that V doesn't opt to pot control, creating this situation.

Why does the topic imply that the only possibilities are "Villain is 3-barrel bluffing" and "I should fold because I'm behind"?

Villain can show up with a value hand like Ax or even Ax non-spades a lot of the time.

Adding up your "LAG" image and being so passive post-flop, he could easily believe you have a log of crying-call hands like pocket pairs or weak Ax. He also knows you don't have an 8 or a boat, and every check reduces your chances of having AK/AQ, so this is a safe value-bet from his perspective.

With over 3:1 on that bet you absolutely have to call. You are ahead of at least 25% of his range.

Results: I call, he says "nice hand, I missed my flush," and mucks, but a red queen flips over.
