5/10 NL would you give a rebate?

Playing 5/10 for a while, we decide one round of UTG blind raises to 20.

I get kings in my blind raise, villain makes it 80, folds around I make it 340, he calls.

Flop is J75. I bet 350, he raises to 850, I shove for my last 500.

Villain is tanking, at this time I kind of want him to fold since the pot is so big and he likely has outs. I told him I have a big hand. He asks for a 2-3 hundred dollar rebate from the pot.

Do you give him a rebate or see the turn and river?
I offered 70 at the time.

So hes getting like 4 or 5 to 1 to call here and is debating folding? Dont think I would of said anything cause hes not going to concede for 70 dollars and anything more then that is going to cost you......Doubt he has more then like 15% equity vs you here

He has jx so prolly has at most 20% equity 5 outs. Wouldnt give a rebate personally 200-300 ever.

Telling your opponent what you have in the middle of a hand is probably -EV.

Giving your opponent a tutorial about pot odds and outs in the middle of a hand is probably -EV.

Haggling over insurance or buy-outs or whatever in the middle of a hand slows the game down, which reduces your win rate and upsets the other players. And unless you're a math whizz, I doubt you can make much of a profit selling insurance or buy-outs on the fly.

For all you know, villain was considering something really bad like calling with K2 or folding 64, and your table talk helped him avoid this stupid action.

Something tells me you don't care about EV all that much. I think you just enjoy talking to people at the poker table. That's fine. Talking is fun. I endorse talking.

But I believe the +EV move in this situation is stfu.

Re: 5/10 NL would you give a rebate?

If your read is that he's folding and just trying to free roll you, then no obv. If your read is that he has done the math and is disgusted that he has to put 500 more in with Ax or a gutter (but he will), I like the 70 offer. I'd prob start the negotiation at 50 + a drink and stop it at one white chip + no drink. If you had AA+, no rebate obv...

Re: 5/10 NL would you give a rebate?

Yea honestly I never really offer a rebate or think about doing.it, but I felt like the pot was good and I thought he had a legit hand. Idk what I was thinking. 200 was obviously too much to give IMO. If I give him a rebate I'm essentily giving him 700 for all the times he misses since he saves his
500 that he pays to call.. Obviously I lost which is why I posted this and this was the momentum changer for the night. He had AQ (12 percent) while getting 5-1 or less on his money, but turn changed everything with an ace. Guess its karma for being greedy.

You lost the momentum, the pot and some karma, take the deal imo.
