Bet bigger on flop or turn and bet a moderately small amount on the river, the smallest possible amount that you believe won't convey weakness to some live donk. Smallish blocking/value bets on rivers like this are quite effective against weak opponents.

So you're saying OTR smallish/blockish bet/fold is much more optimal than check/fold or check/call? Makes sense. Could you suggest bet size for the river? (As played)

$150 is good on river. Bet fold. It gets you value and you can safely fold to a raise. The problem on this specific board is that 87, T8, QT are open ended and a huge portion of his range. And bet folding allows you to name your own price too

I'd bet 60 into 80 on the flop , 160 into 200 on the turn, and like 250 into 520 in the river. As played, i'd have bet about 225 on the river in your spot.

225 into 380 OTR? That's not small at all, that's 60% of pot

it's small enough that he'll be getting a good price and you won't look like your making a blocking bet. And more importantly its smaller than the 420 bet you ended up facing.

Anywhere between 175 and 225 would be fine.

Why not 1/3 pot like $140ish? Too transparent? Transparency only matters if V is capable of reading weakness AND is aggressive enough to raise on a bluff. This particular V definitely is not in that category.

If above villain is described as incapable of being savvy then why are we calling an overbet on the river?

You have got to stop check/calling rivers when scare cards come. Huge leak that I've noticed in several of your HH.

Easy b/f for reasons that several good posters have already a stated in several of your threads.

Lol at the overbet comments. This dude prob thinks he is betting pot and it's like $40 over pot. It's not some sick leveling war in normal overbet spots, this dude rivered a flush and is vbetting pot. As played fold river to this sizing.

That being said agree with the bet river yourself comments. There is still value here.

60/130/160 vill will call all non misses draws and only raise you when you are beat.

Fwiw it took me a long time come around to bf lines I used to think they were terrible until I really thought about how often I could induce a bluff/light raise (almost never). On the other hand pretty much every pair will call you and you never need to balance vs this guy.
