That really is terrible by villain.

This is a 3-bet pot, he's OOP, it's his first orbit and he's up against an unknown...and yet he bluffs off 200bb on a board with like this.

Since he's turning his hand into a buff on the river...what value hands of yours does he actually expect to fold? The worse value hand you typically have here is AQ and is the only hand you might fold...sure you could be someone who 3bets OTB with hands like A2/A5 suited and make thin value bets on the river, but you're an unknown so is unlikely. You're calling with AK, AA, KK, AT, QJ, 67. Would you call with 89?

Or was it a super-ambitious value bet? If your range looks capped at AQ as most people ITT suggest, then that's only a few combo's he is losing to and many more he beats and can c/r all in for value and hope you think he's bluffing and call down super light...not a good play in this spot given no reads etc but just might be what he was thinking.

In the end, it looks like your x/b on the flop worked out very well since he did not put you on such a strong hand...most ppl ITT including yourself are saying you should bet flop with a strong hand like AA, AK, KK etc...so it looks like he thought the same way and so discounted those hands from your range.
