Unbeatable rake

Okay I play on Everleaf and recently sat down with 50bb on HU limit hold em table. .20/.40 and played for a half hour. My opponent won all of the bets in front of me and by the end of it the rake was so extreme he was down about 6 big bets. Is it just me or is this insane and unbeatable? He was awful as well, but ran like GOD. Anyway that really doesn't matter as I was just doing tilt control by working on my heads up limit game. I realized I wont be able to work on this aspect of my game at this site but how do I address this with the website? Surely they would be interested in the fact that no low limit limit grinders can grind their tables so they are losing money in this area.

Re: Unbeatable rake

yes, in general i think it's said that games at 1dollar/2dollar and below are unbeatable (because of rake) on all sites, and 2dollar/4dollar is the first beatable stake

you could play hu lhe ngs to work on hu - the rake is less of a factor there and it's good practice

Re: Unbeatable rake

It is pretty harsh of all the sites making low stakes HU games so expensive. Loads of games always going and noone winning, for the no. hands played/hr they should make it 1/10th the cost.

Saying that it does make it a bit of a barrier to entry to anyone building a roll the 'proper' way so..

Re: Unbeatable rake

Played a 2/4 HU match last night for two hours spanning multiple buy-ins on both accounts. In the end, I won all that was on the table...

Total buy-ins for both sides: $528
My final cash-out: $326

Looks like I wasn't the winner, after-all. Rake FTW!

This means nothing without knowing the actual amount you were in the game for.

I think 2/4 hu is beatable if you select opponents well. Otherwise, you're just pissing in the wind if your opponent is even close in competence to you, imo.

Just showing that over a two hour HU match, we lost $200 to rake.

Re: Unbeatable rake

For anyone who actually plays HU, can you check my math?

Rake on Merge above 2/4 is 1 cent every 20 cents with a $2 cap on tables with less than 6 players. If every 2/4 every contested pot is going to get close to the $2 cap (4 Bets = $8 = $1.60). At 80 hands per hour, the table would be paying $128 an hour in rake.

Does this sound right?

At what level is that rake beatable against a typical HU opponent?

http://pokerfuse.com/features/editor...ake-structure/

But you know rake is capped at $0.50 for HU tables? But 2-4 you'll still be paying nearly 5%

Re: Unbeatable rake

ironically at .02/.04$ there is no rake (I guess it never amounts to the minimum to get rake)

Re: Unbeatable rake

All limit holdem is dead for the new players at least at this time for the reason that either the rake is too high or there are not enough games or/and the games are tougher than at other forms of poker. Also, the limitations where this or that country can play at limits the games and limit holdem is not one of them as it can be played mainly at stars and the limit will be 15-30 and up (not too many games and regulars fill them just about and they have been playing there for years). 10-20 euro game with a €2 cap would be playable if getting popular at stars but they don't offer that game. But 15-30 and up is still possible and heads up skills are not all wasted as they can be heads up and rather short much of the time. For new players it would be ignorant to focus on limit holdem.

Isn't there a point of diminishing returns there? How glad does that make you?

Re: Unbeatable rake

yeah, i still think it outweights having new regs added every day, it would reach a point of equilibrium with the saturation of regs really fast regardless even if there were tons more action.

this way is just as fine as any.

Re: Unbeatable rake

Sucks.

I love fixed limit, am better at it than no-limit and heads up is so much fun. But I played on Pokerstars - 18 hands at .50/$1 and total rake was $1.40!

The format of heads up sit & gos gets annoying after a while plus I tend to tilt more due to the inevitable losing streaks.
