I have trouble with people who

3B more than ~35% in the BB;

I think I should adjust by:

1) Capping more
2) Raising more flops (or turns if they habituaBarrel)
3) Adding in a Limp/LRR component to my game

True/False? Thoughts?

Capping more and raising more are reasonable adjustments. I believe that the most profitable strategy adjustment is to develop a balanced limping and limp re raising range which is a pretty difficult task but there is some good information on this in Phil Newals books which details some limping strats used by poker bots (including hand charts). Some of these 3 bet stations will raise the vast majority of your limps, and then bet out in the smaller pot at a same frequency, which magnifys their spew leak. It is so easy and nice to play an opponent where they will raise most of your limps and bet into you on the flop. Some opponents I will limp my whole range against.

Re: I have trouble with people who

Much of the time a thoroughly balanced limping range is not really required against these types. Do not be afraid to limp a ton of hands, even all of your hands, and testing the waters because oftentimes these villain types can not stand not being the aggressor and being in a small pot. When you have a villain raising 70 percent of your limps and betting out on the flop you have created a very profitable situation that is easy to play against. A simple way to loosely balance a limping range is to include hands that are disconnected even hands like ace 6 off and raise all your more connected hands. If a more balanced range is required Phil's book details a completely static but balanced limping range used by one of the poker bots and a bunch of information about what the sonia bot does preflop. Limping is the single most underutilized strategy in HU LHE imo, the strategy has been given a lot of bad press but I have found it to be helpful in a surprisingly large amount of situations. Some villains play much worse in smaller pots.

Open fewer hands? What % are you opening?

Tbh I think ~35% is a pretty good 3-bet % so that kind of limits your exploitive options. Depends a lot on post-flop play too.

Re: I have trouble with people who

yeah 28-40% is a normal solid 3bet range so i'm leaning different ways on the thread

I've been around for a long time and making $1M+ has never been a cakewalk. Yes it was easy as pie to make maybe $50k a year but Kahn was one of the very best LHE pros for a while. Poker was much harder to play well when there were so many fewer resources available.

For example I remember Kahn busting the roll of an aggressive 10/20--25/50 pro in a 150/300 HUHU game.
