It was a much better deal when I didn't have to pay for parking at every hotel I went to, including and especially the one I stayed at.

At the current rate they are moving, the gates should be installed within a month. They also installed new sensors for open spots.

Official press release from Wynn regarding fee parking for poker players says:

75 hours of live play in the previous year qualifies for free self-parking.

150 hours of live play in the previous year qualifies for free valet parking.

20 tournament entries during a year qualifies for free self-parking.

Time will be kept continuously. So if you show up with 74 hours in the bank one day, and play an hour, you can get free parking for that day.

So it's like M life. Pretty reasonable. Not like Total Rewards where you have to play for anywhere from 150 to 300 hours for free self-parking.

Hi everyone. Happy to answer any questions in regard to poker play. We've done our best to make it reasonable for poker players, and everyone who has reached those benchmarks will be automatically qualified on day one.

How does it practically work? I go to park and there are gates...but I have 75 hours in...pay and get reimbursed?

i assume you will use your player card to enter and exit and if you meet the criteria, there will be no charges?

You don't have to play tables games for one second if you don't want to in the Total Rewards (CET) system.

That's how CET garages work. There's a card reader at the entrance, it takes a pic of your license plate, and lets you out at the exit when it matches up your license.

That is correct. Simply input your Red Card upon entering and the gate will open, no ticket needed.

If you don't happen to have your Red Card on the first trip you can take a ticket and we will validate it in the poker room for those that qualify.

So that's that. No more renting a car for me when I go to Vegas.

If your sessions average 4 - 5 hours, parking will cost you around $3 per hour of play until you reach the 75 hours in a year. Then of course it's free.

Can't really see the point of giving up the conveniences of having a car at disposal in LV and relying on uber/lyft, if you spend more than a few days here per year.

Parking costs more than that if he also parks at a Caesars or MGM property on the same day.

That would take 15 days. He only starts getting free parking after playing for more than 2 straight weeks. Casual players don't visit Vegas that much.

Yep, these charges really tip the balance on whether or not it makes sense to rent a car in Vegas or just uber/lyft/cab/walk

I guess its the Orleans for me. I actually like playing at the Wynn, but I don't think that I will make the 75 hours.

Still find it mind boggling that paying hotel guests that are staying there have to pay for parking on top of the resort fees. Next they will start charging for electricity usage fee in room or you get the room but have to pay the utilities on top...

That's unfortunately how corporate greed works. They have a business model that only cares about profitability and not what's fair. As long as they have enough rich people who don't give a fvck they will charge the amount that maximizes their profits. Why do you think a sandwich costs double digits at Aria? Because there's still enough demand. Basic economics minus morals.

Before they didn't have resort fees or parking fees. Now they'll have both. If it's profitable to charge for more little things like electricity, it might become standard to do so in a few years.

It's immoral to charge as much as someone is willing to pay for a sandwich?

Depends on the circumstances. Definitely immortal to overcharge a starving person for food.

Not immoral to overcharge tourists and business travelers. The first group can go on vacation somewhere else if they don't like the new Vegas business model, the second group mostly doesn't pay out of their own pockets anyway.

Most non Vegas hotels that charge a resort fee, will also charge a separate fee for parking. Granted most of those hotels have limited parking relative to the Vegas hotels.

Resort fees are really just a way for hotels to charge more for a room but advertise a lower price daily price.

Yes, and also pay a lower amount to the travel agents. Since they usually take sum lump % of the room price it makes sense to put as much as possible into other charges.
But for the Wynn it's a different story anyway. Those who are willing to pay for their usually ridiculously overpriced rooms are prolly not deterred much by the parking charges either

Exactly. I don't live in Vegas. Unless the rental rates go WAY down (they won't) I'm on team uber.
