I'm sure I'll get to experience the annoyance firsthand the next time I'm in town.

That's true. Locals still park for free at Caesars properties, and the Miracle Mile shops still offer free parking which is convenient for people because it's in the middle of the Strip. If those two things stop happening, people that have been avoiding parking at MGM properties, and tourists that have been parking at PH are going to either have to pay up, or park at places like Hooters or Venetian and plan on doing some extra walking.

LOL That's a lot of work to save maybe 10 bucks a day, if that.

It's not the amount, it's the principle. Paying to park on the Strip is ridiculous.

I don't see how it is ridiculous. This is some of the most expensive real estate in the world.

Not that I really want to relitigate this whole thing that has been discussed to death, but the price of real estate is somewhere near the bottom of the list of reasons the hotels are charging for parking.

I believe they are charging because people will pay it and the reason they will pay it is because the parking is in a prime location. If it wasn't a prime location hardly anyone would pay.

No dude. They're charging because they can. It has nothing to do with their prime location on the strip, which frankly isn't that great. They're north of everybody and they're surrounded by other hotels and malls with free parking. It's a straight-up cash grab AND they'll charge more than anyone, too.

Buy their stock.

My comment was regarding the statement: "Paying to park on the Strip is ridiculous. "

This is some of the highest priced real estate anywhere and there is nothing ridiculous about it at all.

Anyone that owns a parking lot can charge for parking but if you do that in a random strip mall people will just avoid those businesses rather than pay the fees. However, people that really want to go to Wynn will be more than willing to shell out money for parking. The parking fees will more than cover whatever business is lost from cheapskates that avoid Wynn because of it.

Wynn is the premier casino in Vegas with the wealthiest clientele. It's not ridiculous at all to ask their clientele to pay for parking. Some will actually prefer it because it will be much easier to find a spot now, and safer.

Parking and the small NL (1-3 2-5) games will definitely improve in quality

I completely agree with this statement, and I'm generally someone who looks for a deal. I've lowrolled Vegas many times and cut my craps teeth at the Stratosphere. I've spent more hours there than I can count. For the last few years, I've exclusively stayed and played at the Wynn.

Most of us know there are multiple ecosystems in Vegas and none comprise the entire spectrum of humanity. Your typical Wynn client will not sweat a parking fee at all. I'm sure Wynn management will be happy to lose anyone who could potential consider a parking fee a deal-breaker, never mind the fact that we know they're going to MAKE money on the situation. And I'll tell you this- I basically expect to be accosted for money, smokes etc at a lot of casinos. That just doesn't happen at the Wynn. After big scores, I've asked for a security escort walking out to the parking deck at other places, but I don't feel that need at the Wynn. At the Wynn you just have to deal with douchebags who think their net worth makes them god's gift to humanity.

Oh, this parking fee won't stop me from staying and partying at Wynn. Might stop me from renting a car, though.

I agree it's the best place on the strip.

I had a guy last year pitch me his startup in the self park structure at Encore... It was weird.

Charging for general parking is just the next logical step, and the fact they'll make a little extra can't hurt.

Personally I think the Wynn should charge for parking, but if you're a guest of the hotel just insta-knock it off your bill. But this is just the latest in a sequence of events which shows Vegas in general is trying to squeeze every last dime it can from everyone- "old" Vegas simply doesn't exist anymore. And thus far the market has shown (by their continued patronage) that they're willing to tolerate more cost.
During the xmas shopping season Fashion Show's lot gets packed and people park at Wynn.

I hate that we're charging for parking now in LV. MGM is garbage. Literally their best idea to create revenue is to charge for parking. And they're liars... advertising $40 room nights but leaving out the fact that you have to pay $35 resort fees and $25 to park.

I parked at Excalibur earlier this year and missed my 1 hr grace period by like 2 mins. The guy manning the gate wouldn't let me out. I rolled up my window and turned my car off till he just opened the gate.

Have Wynn announced when they'll start charging for self-park yet? I'm staying there next week (South Tower FTW), and I'm trying to do the ROI calculation on car rental versus limo/taxi/uber.

Forgive me if it's in this thread somewhere and I missed it.

It's coming but I don't think it'll happen this week or next.

I'd bet it launches right after the Wynn Classic ends.

Already renting car and been parking free at Encore. Car rental is more expensive than Lyft/Uber but HELLA life EV.

Preach. I'm staying at the South Tower suites, which means schlep to self park all the way across the property or embrace the $18 south valet. I think I'm going to just embrace the baller nature of the South Tower: rent a car and use the valet, then get a sedan or cab for safety when we go out at night have cocktails.

I think that's optimizing life-EV, but I'm pretty sure the only way I could spend more on transportation is if I had a Wynn sedan follow my rental car to and from the airport like a presidential escort.

Why's that? The price went up ridiculously but then went down to a reasonable sub $200/week.

It does seem nonsensical to rent a car for Vegas but to each their own. I noticed the vast majority of cars driving the strip were Uber/Lift. Lol sample size though.
