"Drivers in Las Vegas are 15 percent more likely to be in an automobile accident than the national average, making it one of the least safe driving cities in the country" And that's a significant improvement from last year.

Statistical evidence from the insurance industry. Vegas drivers suck. But there are several worse cities. The bottom of their list, from worst to not-as-worst: Philly, LA, NYC, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, San Antonio, San Diego, Phoenix.

The worst thing about living in Vegas is that you can't take a trip to Vegas.

I love it here.

I wouldnt be surprised if the "cities"mentioned were actually metro areas -- which means a large part of NJ is included in either #1 or #3.

that said, i don't think per capita accidents is an accurate way to judge which city has the worst drivers. A lot of it has to do with the amount of congestion adn the quality of roads.

Im from philly. Anyone who has ever seen roosevelt blvd or the schukyll expy understands how we keep out #1 rating.

I totally agree with the unsavory people. LV attracted a cespool of the 'weirdest' people in the world. Not too mention degen gamblers.

Because you called it out, here's an excerpt from the link in the OP. I thought it was funny, if not a little disturbing to the prospect of living here...

Quote:
The last group of people that Las Vegas seems to attract is weirdos.

Now, there are generally two types of weirdos in the world:

Introverted intellectuals, creative types, vegetarians, and the socially awkward;
Creepy people of low intellect and stalker proclivities who seem like they probably have at least three decomposing bodies in their basement;

Las Vegas has a large number of weirdos, but absolutely zero of them are from category #1, and 100% of them are from category #2.

Places like Austin, Olympia, Portland, and Berkeley attract more of the former, while Las Vegas only attracts the latter. I don't know why this is.

Between the phony go-getter PR types, the aging degenerates, the third-world transplants, the scammers, the painfully illiterate, and the just plain creepy-weird ... I was never completely comfortable in Las Vegas.

The worst thing about Vegas is that a lot of people are flakey. I find that the less flakey I am, and the more I surround myself with good people, the less of a problem I have.

I think it is easier to meet good people if you have kids. For example, my wife is a girl scout leader and has met a lot of good people through that. My son is into sports so we have met good families that way too.

I have heard this from posters in other threads as well. Since I'm moving to Las Vegas next week, a recent report listing the top 10 U.S. cities with the worst drivers caught my eye. I did a subsequent search for U.S. cities with the worst drivers, and I did not find one report that listed Las Vegas.

Las Vegas makes it on neither the worst or best list of cities for driving. It seems to be moreso a case of your own personal experiences then a case of documented evidence of poor or dangerous driving.
