Where do you stay cheap in LV? Where do you stay cheap in LV?

I dislike playing cards in California and often go up to Vegas to play on the Strip.

I've been going up on Sunday or Monday to take advantage of mid-week rates at the big hotels. High weekend rates cut into my "earn" too much.

But sometimes the mid-week rates shoot up when something I didn't anticipate is going on. (I prefer to take off on the spur of the moment.)

Does anyone know of any cheap places (even off the Strip) that:
* have clean bedding (no cooties or bedbugs, etc.)
* are not too depressing
* have reliable high-speed Internet service
* are consistent (no unpleasant surprises)

...That is all I require. Has anyone stayed at Circus Circus lately? Do they tack on a resort fee?

This is off strip but Gold Coast meets your criteria but don't know about the high speed internet. Getting a players card will have specials of $75/weekend day and $29 for the week. If all week days then 4x$29. Add resort fee of $12.50 daily and with tx the week day rates come to $46/day. total of 4 days at the special but you can get more.

The sister casino (Orleans) is a little higher but they do have a active poker room. Otherwise look at Expedia and compare rates at the different hotels and you'll probably come to these two and others like the Excalibur. If you find something it might be better asking about the particular casino(s). They're all well known and if there's a hidden gem I don't think it will be exposed here.

And no poker room at the Gold Coast.

I used to stay at the Orleans all the time prior to moving here years ago... great value, close proximity and as 3 bet (poster), it has a VERY active poker room.

check the rate calendars, usually excalibur is a good one if you see a spike there and still want to come then check a few more in different areas, sometimes a big convention at mandalay bay bumps the nearby casinos. a spike on the strip usually causes a spike everywhere. Having a car opens things up a bit, my gotos would be excalibur, gold coast, freemont st. Then check boulder highway, and the hotels along paradise, and the station casinos.

Oh and check out silverton on russel and I15 pretty cool and off most peoples radars

Oh! I've seen it from the I-15 every time I drove up but never knew it was a hotel. Pretty low rates, too! It's on my radar now, Jack! Thanks!

It was already on my music radar since I once saw on their sign (too late, darn it!) that the Grass Roots had just played there. Since then I thought it was a show venue and casino.

I didn't care for Hotwire, but thanks for turning me on so I could check it out. To return the favor, when searching for a flight I always start at: kayak.com

My little 'hidden gem' go to spot during the week is the Tuscany Suites.
Big clean rooms, great wifi, and even an awesome pool that's never crowded.

It's also attached to a Bass Pro Shops. If you're a sportsman at all, you'll go nuts. If I lived near one I would never go into it unless I could spare at least two hours.

Sportsbook is will hill for better odds.

Wlak out the end of freemont experience. pool was nice, rooms updated, $19-$24/nite...

You could do worse. And it's within walking distance of the Hard Rock and The Strip.

If you want to stay cheap but in a clean place I would recommend the Super 8 hotel near Stratosphere. You'll get a clean room for around $40-50 , no resort fees and most rooms offer a complimentary fridge and coffee maker. Easy access to the strip with the bus running outside 24/7 . I stayed there last time and didnt regret it.
