Seems like this news has happened pretty fast, cardschat just released an article today about it reopening. https://www.cardschat.com/news/westg...e-locale-49595

I never played in this room while it was running, but I would imagine during NFL season especially it could prove to be fairly soft. I'll break down the facts of everything I could find out thus far:

Comps/promos: $1/hour comp rate.
Periodically throughout the day, $50 paid for the highest hand in the preceding 30 minutes, times vary. Seems kind of weird but OK cool I suppose.
"Neighborly High Hand" promo: $75+$25+$25 for straight flushes. $300+$75+$75+$25+$25 for Royals.
Freerolls: qualify with 20 hours Mon-Fri for a Saturday $2500 freeroll.
Play 12 hours Saturday-Sunday for a $1000 freeroll on Monday mornings. Locals who use their comp dollars get the buffet for $5 Sunday through Thursday. I think the Saturday-Sunday promo freeroll is an interesting idea, not sure if other rooms do this? Obviously, a lot of tourists leave on Sunday or Monday so I wonder how well this would work out.

The room manager says in the article they want to start giving away buffets and restaurant credits at just 3 hours of play which seems pretty nice.

It will have 6 tables with some large flat screen TVs in the room.

Tournaments: In addition to the freerolls, they will be running $40 tournaments daily at 11 AM and 7 PM. No mention of guarantees.

Games offered: Looks like fairly low stakes to start: 1/2 NL, 2/4 Limit and 3/6 limit with some "occasional" PLO. Nothing about rake thus far, but with highhand promos and the freeroll I'd guess not less than $4+$1 and maybe $5+$1. Will update.

It's on PokerAtlas and is one of the few ones in Vegas that looks like it will be connected live to PokerAtlas for tournament clocks etc. Not really relevant but I thought it was interesting as you open Pokeratlas and Westgate shows up at the top because of this feature.

Any insight or feedback on if you think this room will be able to stay up? It's the fourth time in the Westgate History that it's opened. I'll likely swing by sometime on Wednesday (8/9/17) just to see the turnout.

"Soft opening Wednesday"

Does anyone know what this means? Open for business but not expecting a large turnout?

ETA : I just re-read your post at the end. I might try to come out Wednesday too

basically means first day operational, at low(er) capacity and see if there are any flaws to be figured out before the grand opening.

regardless of the quality of comps / room I think its just great to have a room re-open instead of close for a change.

The issue is ofc what kind of crowd they want to attract, as long as they are just thriving from hotel guests that's going to be pretty dry. They are a bit removed from the strip, so random walk-ins are going to be rare, they are away from downtown, there are already locals casinos, so they have to find a unique niche

If it draws any of the players that used to frequent the Stratosphere the game should be very loose and full of low stacks. Thanks for the info BK.

Parking charges vary. If there's no convention in town, then parking is free. If there's a big con going on, then they'll charge for that day which is reasonable. Granted, this was a month ago... so that could have changed.

I played in the Westgate room a few times during its last reincarnation. Only ever saw $1/$2 (or maybe $3) NL there and only ever one table going. Games were OK, just 1-2 local nits when I played. The obv issue is that the room usually was empty but the prior location was next to the showroom theater so the foot traffic certainly will be better by the sports book. I will be there for a while on Saturday betting horses so I'll post what I see.

parking - they only charge if there is a big convention in town at the LV Convention Center. you can get validated if you park in the sportsbook parking lot and make a sports bet. on NFL sundays and some college football Saturdays, good luck getting a spot in the sportsbook parking lot tho...just head straight for the main parking garage.

Just heard from them that the tournaments aren't starting this week. Could be a couple of weeks before the dailies start up.

If Westgate charges for parking, they will comp for very little action. I would imagine playing in a cash game qualifies.

Several years ago I made a couple of decent sized sports bets and got them to give me a pass for the front row parking spots. I would guess they would validate on any poker action.

Seems like a grate place for NFL Sundays if they're really gonna have 7+ screens in there

I played there a few times before, it was just like 3 tables right next to table games. I might go check it out tomorrow and see what's up.

First one in awhile. I guess Caesars and Mirage closed and reopned, but those were always planned.

Westgate doesn't pay their bills, no surprise they can't afford good carpet. Personal story, sorry.... but I'll be down to go drink for drink with anyone that wants to play in one of these $40 tournaments once they start. Hopefully they'll be open to suggestions.
