Warning: Degen Trip Report to LV
Howdy guys
Me and my pal ninja_turtle (mmm hookers) are on our way to Vegas right now with hopes and dreams of providing 2+2ers with an epic trip report (and hopefully make hella cash along the way).
This came to be from a random phone call earlier asking me if i wanted to go to vegas. I had just moved back to sacramento from the bay area yesterday and am not even close to unpacking . Turns out my buddy has been doing well grinding, just quit his ****ty job today and wants to go Vegas for his first time (he just turned 21 a couple months ago). I just couldn't bring myself to decline and accepted within an hour of his request, although I have to be in Vegas jan 14th to play against a few other people for a main event seat.
This trip has been interesting so far, and we are not even halfway there, we decided to grind at thunder valley for a couple hours not knowing whether we were going to leave tonight, after debating shortly, around 1230amish we finally decided we were going to go for it. We were packed and ready, went to the gas station and we found his cars temperature gauge was pretty high, turns out his coolant holder thing is leaking and there was nothing in there, after filling it with water the car started smoking within a mile, bad beat, and my cars manual and he doesn't know how to drive a stick, so I tried to teach him in 20 minutes, my poor damn car . Lol anyways so we ended up leaving at 130, I've been on a normal sleep schedule (so I'm tired as ****, and scared for my life to sleep) but looks like that's about to change, hopefully along with our bankrolls!!
It is now 5am, if all goes well we will be in Vegas by around 10, check in to a cheap room, sleep, and get our grind on =), look forward to documenting our sessions and whatever crazy **** we get in to.
Any questions feel free and ask, if anyone wants to participate in our degenness, grab a drink, etc let us know, oh and god help us, we are going to need it.

btw, give tropicana a bell, see what there best room rate is, a very nice casino that had very cheap prices in december with good location to a few decent rooms.

Re: Warning: Degen Trip Report to LV
thanks well try!
the drive was hell but we made it, ended up getting a tower room at the tropicana for $83 after taxes and resort fee (we were expecting 49+10 for early check in fee but they didnt have reg rooms avail), the place is pretty cool, seems like it was remodeled recently. as we were checking in i glimpsed inside the poker room and noticed a few people getting poker lessons, i lol'd pretty good at the idea of playing them, checked it out real fast ( $10 an hour to play 1/2 between 11-7 seems solid ) and bounced, probably going to check it out when we wake up (if we get to sleep), the casino doesnt seem like it would bring a ton of poker action but well see (i get a poker chip from every place i play and i havent stepped foot inside this casino until today so thats a little incentive), anyways thx fazzers for the suggestion, anymore suggestions, etc for this thread are more than welcome!

Re: Warning: Degen Trip Report to LV
So we've decided to put off sleeping and grind it up over at the mgm (waited for a few at the trop but they wore out patience with starting a 2nd 1/2 table), I was able to sit first and noticed a juicy table in the room, and when ninja was called to take his juicy seat I was able to call floor and swipe it right as he sat down, he was happy =)
A seat opened within 15 and of course he took it, table is super passive and no one seems to have a clue, only one rock who also seems to be pretty bad as well

Re: Warning: Degen Trip Report to LV
i stayed at the trop for nearly 2 weeks in early december i got an amazing room for $45 a night, with a great view. it has just been re done, i liked it, as it was suited to my budget, but had modern stuff, like hd tv, and nice rooms. plus 24hour pizza, well worth the $$$ just nxt to starbucks.
my view...
as for poker, jamie gold is promoting the room (see twitter for daily updates) and its being getting a bit of hype. there daytime $10 an hour promo is good, but dont expect the games to play juicy, always the same faces, just passing the time, trying to make a profit with the $10 an hour, and the freeroll tourney in the evening.
the bonus tho, is your a 2min walk to the MGM poker room, so its great! ENJOY
PS dont mean to thread hijack, im itching to be back in vegas already!

Re: Warning: Degen Trip Report to LV
alright just got back into my room, the sesh @mgm went well for me overall (although ninja owned me every hand we were in) with a 412 win, a lot of my hands sorta played themselves, made a couple squeezes when the time came, about half worked, i chose not to cbet a couple choice times on semi dry boards where i felt my opponents were calling down light and often on the specific textures, and with too many opponents for me to just try to cbet and take it down (ex K22ss 4 way as the pfr w/ A9o).
so overall i was pretty happy with my play (especially with the lack of sleep haha), one hand i was sort of questioning myself was a light calldown i made against a weak player who seemed to overvalue his made hands (super light calldowns) and draws.
oddly enough the hand in question is a hand i won a big pot: the hand started with UTG (a pretty tight player who ive only seen go to showdown once by check calling a river bet and losing, didnt see cards) opening to 6 (avg open was a lot larger), a very loose passive player with a decent stack called, i called one right of the HJ w/two black 6's (i believe i had 3-400), HJ and CO come along (CO is villain in hand), and SB makes a small squeeze to 26 total, BB calls, UTG calls, the loose passive player folds (oddly enough lol) and its to me, the average stack here was around 150ish give or take, i took a look at HJ and CO and they both looked game, so i decided to call, flop was 283dd pfr doesnt cbet it checks around to me i think about firing a feeler bet but decide against it, villain in hand thinks for a couple seconds and fires out a small 30-40$ bet, it folds around to me and i cant see many hands he would bet that sizing and i wasnt too sure about a specific read but imo he didnt look strong either. turn is a blank 3, i check he fires $50, leaving himself with around 70something behind, i decide here to call (thought about jamming) and call almost all non diamond rivers unless something changes my mind (not likely). river is 6d =), i decided to bet after a few moments, reasons being hes not folding flushes and the only other hands i could put in his range are possibly 8x or some 99-JJ overpairs that i did not want to check behind and lose value, and im pretty sure pure bluffs were unlikely so i wouldnt lose value from betting against those. he ended up calling after about 20 seconds or so (i also misjudged his stack and left him with a few chips), i turned over my boat, and he didnt seem too upset about the loss, leaving me to believe my hand was good the whole way, however he did verbally say my hand was no good till the river.
(sorry for the insane paragraphs btw)
any thoughts on the hand would be appreciated!
so i might try and get some sleep now since im REALLY tired, but idk yet =)

Re: Warning: Degen Trip Report to LV
have yet to play there so should have to check it out, if the games are good (which id imagine almost all are) then it sounds like a plan!
so headed out to aria to meet up with ninja and play, room/area/casino was really nice, ninja had hella $$ on him and told me his table was the nuts (id later move to that table right before sitting down at PLO), so i took my seat at 1/3 NLH after signing up for PLO, table seemed to follow the live trend of mostly passive players, it wasnt the best table id seen but there only seemed to be one person who was a probably a better player and a good board reader (i put him into a very sick spot with a thin value bet that he paid off, and i couldnt blame him that much).
so there was one hand i wanted to mention, villain is an asian guy i had not seen too much from (couple limp folds seemed to have a wide range, but not too aggressive, seen a no good showdown call) limps UTG, i decide to limp in MP w/57hh due to the players behind not being to iso crazy and stack sizes (players were calling down a little too light at the table, nothing super crazy though), CO and B limps SB folds BB checks, flop is T7cc4, asian guy checks and i decide to fire a bet of 9$ into like 13 or w/e, with the intention of not putting to much more into the pot depending on how the board runs out, it folds around to the UTG asian guy, he thinks quickly and calls, turn is a 3 (that or a 2 dont remember exactly), he checks and i decide to fire $19 again for value, and with the intention of checking back the river most of the time, he thinks for a couple seconds and makes a weak raise to $40, the sizing is super odd and it did not make too much sense to me, i decided to call and call most non club and straight missing rivers, unless something changed my mind, the river was a Q, i liked it, he thought for a few seconds and fired 115, the bet size got my attention but i decided to station and call, thinking he would have made a larger raise with a value hand on the turn to protect from draws, and if the board hit him hard he wouldnt have checked into 4 players on the flop, he ended up having TT. i said "oops" laughed and folded my hand.
anyway ninja is hella trying to rage right now so ill cut this short, i played plo ran like ****, ran into a ton of hands on boards that were amazing for my range etc, and got called down pretty light, etc, fml, i was pretty steamed but held my composure well (i usually do it takes a bit to get to me)
gonna go rage hes in a hurry peace!

From what I have seen in a week of play in almost all the major casino poker rooms at low limits, proper bet sizing is an optional. You really have to forget about how you would bet your hands in a certain situation and just think about the type of player and the bet he is making.
In this case this is a typical fish monster line, raise small to not scare you away and then bomb river since you have called previous bet and thus likely have something.
