Hey all, my name is Carl I've been out here in Vegas playing NL cash games for about 3 years now. I decided to start this video project to help out anyone thinking of coming to Vegas to play poker with a little info on each poker room.

This is my first time messing with editing software so bear with me, working my way up to TheTrooper97 quality someday!

I am planning to make a video for each poker room on the Strip.

Maybe you could borrow some of Trooper's music.

45 second of escalator-riding is probably unnecessary. Five seconds should do the trick.

Hey thanks for the feedback, everyone is welcome to provide pointers.

I just threw in some random improvised guitar clips. Music will be rock n roll and metal I'll try to use more polished stuff, hope some will dig it. I don't want to recycle music used by Tim.

Yeah I think I will shorten the intro clips a little, I agree 45 secs is too long. A time lapse going down the escalators would've been cooler.

Hey there is a restroom at the entrance to Delano which is close by.

Also, check out Bravo or call to make sure you can get a table cause the table waits can be pretty long.

Watched on my phone and wasn't sure if it was the video or not but it seemed like it was very pink while in the casino. Like to see better quality footage during that part. Also bit more fluidity when it comes to listing your ratings and other info. Seems like you kept looking down or to the side, so not sure if you were reading off of something. As said before the intro was a bit long. But I like the idea and hope you stick with it. Your videos will only get better.

True, those restrooms aren't that far, however they are not directly adjacent like Aria or Red Rock.

Bravo Poker Live is an excellent resource for up to the minute data. I think just about every room allows call ins and give an hour or so to check in at the podium.

Sorry if the quality isn't the best, using my HTC One M7 for now. It doesn't seem to perform great in low light settings. The outro clip seemed to turn out a little better so I'll try to cherry pick the best clips going forward.

I have been writing down the ratings in a pocket sized notebook, that I refer to. I will work on speaking more clearly and fluidly.

Thanks for the input, much appreciated. I have been toying with the idea for a few months so I decided to just get the ball rolling even though I know the first few videos may come out a bit rough. This first video is simply a starting point and I'll implement as many suggestions as I can while working on this project.

Excellent idea! Polish will come with practice. Have you considered going off-Strip once the Strip rooms are covered?

Like the idea. Agree with comments regarding execution. Will keep watching.

You should come to the meet-up again next year.

This is an excellent idea. I was tempted to do the same thing, but you will do a better job so I can keep playing. One suggestion, when you voice the descriptions and ratings, do it off camera as a voice over/ narration. Then you can even show the table/chairs as you describe them, show the nearest bathroom as you video the walk and mention it, etc...

Great idea and great job. Look forward to more.

I wish you well, but I can't see this surviving the inevitable cease and desist letter.

Thanks, I've thought about continuing with this with all poker rooms in LV that spread NL cash games. Perhaps I could do reviews in all poker rooms I visit worldwide.

Thanks, yeah that LLSNL meet up was interesting, funny to match faces with avatars. I'll try to attend this summer.

I hadn't thought of that, I like it. I could throw in some pics of the tables, chairs and closest restrooms.

Thanks

I'm not certain, there may be a some antiquated rules on the books as far as photography and videography inside casinos. We are living in a new era with the proliferation of smartphones, camera phones, google glass and I don't think those bans are enforceable. There are countless examples of images and videos of casino floors on the web.

I am providing free advertisement so I don't think there will be a problem. If I am told to stop I'll just use exterior clips.

Hey Pure, youve got a really good idea here and with a few tweeks to your videos, this could turn out really good!

So far I've agreed with everything pthers have said. Try not to do the review in such a dark place and toss in something on the screen while youre speaking like a giant "4/5" whenever you give a rating.

For a first attempt though, it was good. Keep it up

Thanks love the idea. I just moved to Las Vegas from California.

Whenever possible, don't move the camera. At all. The rolling motion when you're talking in the above vid makes it unwatchable for me.

Like everyone else said, it's a great idea, but you need an iPhone or a good video camera, and the basics on how to make a good video. Start here

The plan is to upload one of these reviews every 5 days or so. Here is my second shot at it.

I apologize for the unsteadiness. I may invest money in a tripod and camera in the future. For now all I have is my arm and my phone.

There are a few vloggers on youtube I follow, I will try to incorporate some of their tricks and also experiment on my own. It's a learning experience.

I remember you mentioning producing poker room reviews in your PG&C thread awhile back, I had almost forgotten.

Great idea, and it is much appreciated for all you folks making videos of Vegas for those of us who can't be out there.

Thanks!

Love the idea, and the second video was much better than first

However, why is your camera so dark inside? It makes the room seem even more depressing than it is.

(granted, it is Luxor, so there might not be a way around it, but still

You should do this on your homeless helping days. Let everyone see whats going on and the impact of your work.

Probably will help with attendance and such...

I would uses a scale out of 10 rather than 5. It provides more flexibility unless you decided to use cumbersome 1/2's on the 5 point scale to provide more rating options.

I see the Luxor getting nothing more than 7 (mostly less than 5 of 10) on everything except wifi. I think you are being way to generous with the Luxor.

I do admit that I am not very objective about the Luxor because to me it's about the worst casino in all of Las Vegas.

Definetely a great idea Carl... it would be nice to discuss each room as you review them.

I am curious why you decided to start with some of the more "marginal" rooms like MB and Luxor? Working your way north on the strip? Planning on doing the off strip properties?

It would be kind of cool if you did a new room on each successive friday or saturday to compare the crowds and play on those busiest days of the week. It would also stretch out your reviews for 10 or 12 weeks...

Things like best place to park, orientation to goods and services is also a great idea dude...
