Not sure what you mean; the machines I've been favoring are not in the high limit room. My usual has been 9/7 TDB, they have two machines. The spin poker machines are pretty close by and are also 9/7 TDB. Interestingly, NONE of the machines in the high limit room are full pay lol. It's like they know your typical high roller doesn't pay attention to that stuff and they can screw them over.

The machine my dad hit the 200K on is in the high limit room; even that is only 9/6 TDB.

It was 12 of them committing $500 each. In most cases they only played through $500 worth of spins, so if they won even a bit that meant they didn't erase the entire $500. Between the $10K hit on VP at the end and some of those little non-losses - plus, I suppose, factoring in taxes - each person ended up profiting $450, i.e., just short of doubling their money.

For the uneducated like me, was that just a basic VP machine they were playing at the end when they got the hit? Is it any better or worse to play as compared to the ones you usually frequent?

I'm impressed to say that thanks to your TRs I could tell - even as a non-VP guy - that when they tried VP earlier in the video (when they didn't hit the jackpot) they seemed to be making poor strategy decisions. Or maybe it was just that they were trying to maximize making a profit at the possible expense of optimal jackpot strategy (that part was at 7:40 to about 9:00 of the video). Or maybe I'm just clueless. Thoughts?

Based on the little I saw, it seems like the were playing on a standard VP machine with different versions of games. I'd have to see the paytables to know if it was a "good or bad" machine but I couldn't make out those details.

My machines are taken by a rude couple who have been here all week. A couple of times I've come by and they have all the machines tied up but usually only playing one of them. They're high rollers betting 5$ a credit, but still. One time I **** you not they literally had their little yappy dog sitting in one of the chairs. Like something from a Beverly Hills movie. I, in turn, consider it rude to tell them to shove off, so I don't. I pull up to the spin poker machine by my dad. It's a 9/7 TDB machine, but the variance is insane. Whatever, it can't be any worse than anything else at this point.
Sounds like you should have thanked this couple and given their yappy dog a nice pat on the head. Sometimes the VP Gods are trying to tell you something.

Great report as always. Can't wait for the next one.

Yeah, I thought about that-

"I just wanted to thank you folks. Thanks to you tying up machines you were barely playing, thanks to your decision to spread out to 1.5x the space allotted per person, thanks to the fact that you assume your dog has more right to a chair than another guest, I was forced to go play another machine and binked 12K."

Not soon enough, no matter when it is. Haven't planned it yet but I'm guessing August or so? 3 months between in general seems reasonable... theoretically we have friends to visit and non-gambling trips (ie, stuff my wife and kids can enjoy) as well.

"Spin" is just "deal" or "draw" respectively. The first time you push, it deals you your 5 cards (visually, you see 5 spinning reels). You make your holds, then draw (the reels where you didn't hold and are about to receive new cards spin).

35 credits is just a bit bigger than normal for me; normally it's 5 credits per hand, 5 hands, so 25 credits/push. Here I was playing 7 lines, so 7 x 5 = 35. Same scale.

I've seen machines with basically all the normal variants- JOB, DDB, deuces wild, etc. Here, I'm playing my favorite as usual- TDB.

LOL I meant the apparent cards dealt that said spin poker on them instead of pips or face card image.

I'm guessing the middle row is what you are dealt, and then when you choose the other cards to hold, then those "spin" cards are the ones that are going to be drawn on the additional lines?

Oh ok. Yeah, kind of what drbeechwood said. When you're first dealt the cards, only the middle row shows up. Any card you hold, that whole column turns into that same card. So in that 4 jacks pic, I was dealt and held 4 jacks in the last 4 slots. That first slot I was dealt whatever that card is, the top and bottom rows are currently unoccupied and thus just have that "spin poker" symbol.

For me it depends on the hit. I think 1% on smaller jackpots is fine (eg, 10$ for 1200-1500). I reduce the % as it goes up- I might give 10-20$ on 2-4K, but no way am I giving 2000$ on a 200k score like my dad hit.

I think in general they're pretty happy to get anything from 0.5-1%. A lot of people don't tip at all, and if you're hitting jackpots frequently the tips add up and cut into your expectation. A lot of high rollers I see basically don't tip for individual jackpots (maybe they do one lump sum at the end); if you're playing 10$ credits, 10 lines and are dealt trips, that's 150 credits x 10$/credit = 1500$ and a handpay every time. They hit handpays so often simply by virtue of the size they're playing most don't even take the cash, they just have the machine unlocked and the credits dumped back into the machine. Can you imagine giving a tip every 30 sec or so just for "hitting a jackpot" of dealt trips?

I see.

Well, after this trip you probably don't have to worry about getting comped on your dad's dime. I don't know if the Wynn system has points or what, but you must have pushed enough coin-in for several days of rfb.

Nice post and good hit on your trip. I have been enjoying reading your updates.

How do you know a machine is a 9/7? what does that even mean?
what is the difference between triple double bonus and double double bonus? There are so
many variety of these games, I am confused.
If you just get an ace high on a spin, do you hold the ace and draw or just draw 5 cards again?
looking forward to your next trip report. Thanks
