Vegas llsnl: round 2 Vegas llsnl: round 2

I posted this in llsnl and they recommended I repost here.

General question about Vegas low stakes tables. I recently went to Vegas for CES. I hit the 1-3/1-2 tables because I didn't want to bring a huge roll. About half the players at the table claimed they moved to Vegas to be a 'poker pro.' They were laughably nittish and straight forward. They simply cannot sustain a lifestyle based on their play. Literally none of them were winning players long term.

Is this normal for Vegas? Do wanna be pros show up in Vegas and burn out within a couple months? Is Vegas full of trust fund babies who float along playing poker? Do they think it's 2003 and they'll grow into the next Phil Ivey?

Where are some high action tables, around $500-$1000 buy in?

Why someone would claim to be a poker pro in live table? And this actually happened in three different casinos?

Strange.

So you're saying it's a bad idea to be a nit and be straitforward at 1/2?

Why would you need to bring a 'huge roll' to move just one step up to $2-5?

If your assessments of the other players' profitability is any indicator of your own skills level, you must have cleaned up in those bottom limit CES games, and it's hard to understand why just a couple of grand shouldn't be plenty to keep you out of the 'sandbox' for a few days?

Yeah. It was weird. About half the table talked about where they came from, how long they've been a 'pro', and good daily tournaments to play.

It seems this kind of talk isn't normal. I guess the nitty, straightforward play is normal at $2/5 and lower?

Indeed. Lesson learned.
