Originally, Uber was supposed to be a product of the share economy.
In a perfect world, you get home from work and tell your Uber app that your car is available from now til 6AM. Now your neighbor uses his Uber app to get a ride and since your car is the closest to his location, he's going to take yours. He pays Uber for the ride and Uber pays you for using your car.

In other Uber news, Travis Kalanick is taking an indefinite leave of absence. Let's see if he's coming back and if he does, if they bring in a Sheryl Sandberg type COO to provide some more senior leadership.
