I don't recall seeing "for hire" associated with Uber. But truthfully nearly everything I know about Uber I learned from people in my backseat.

Uber is funny in that it is seemingly non existent on a physical level. I've never spoken to anyone from Uber and there was zero training. There is an "office" that is open five hours a week, which I've never been to.

don't they verify your car or anything to that effect?

You take it to a Meineke, ask for the Uber inspection, and then send them a photo of your inspection sheet and receipt. Costs $26
