Friday, 25th November - 13:35

Okay, currently sat on the list at MGM.
About 4th on the list

I have 22.47 hours towards the 30 needed for the freeroll on Sunday.

Decided to play here as I like it here, and they have a promo which is that if you make a flush in each suit by midnight you get $500

Btout to be honest I think I'll lane to play the tournament at the Orleans later.

Currently sat on the alternate list for the Flamingo freeroll.

I woke 30 minutes ago and realised it was Friday, so hoofed it downstairs to play this as t's here, free, and a potential $300 in 2 hours.

Didn't realise the alternate list would be so long and we are at first break and I'm still not seated.

Not bothered though...it's a crapshoot and average chips is 3690 and we start with 3000.

.
How can they make you an alternate if you qualified for the freeroll?

So it was first come, first served?

GL in the Orleans Friday tourney. Structure isn't as good as it used to be but still very good.

I didn't register until after it had started...my own fault.

Decided against the Orleans....I've got comfy at mgm lol.

Saturday, 26th November - 13:00

I played at the MGM for about 11 hours in the end...I got comfy there and this means I have enough hours for the freeroll on Sunday morning.

If I'd gone to the Orleans to play the tourney I'd have had to go back to the MGM for some more time grinding...

My initial table was very timid and passive, until a few players rotated out and just after we got a few new players a massive hand played out.

We went from timid and meek to a three way all-in in the flop with $540 in the pot.

Board was 6d5d2s
Player 1 had 6c6h for top set
Player 2 had 4c3s for the current nuts (straight)
Player 3 had 8d7d for an open ended straight flush draw.

A diamond on the turn and a brick on the river sealed it and the winner was one of the Vegas vloggers we read so much about...I hadn't realised he was at my table he was so quiet!

Our table broka and I flipped around the tables until I found one I thought I would like.
Turned out it was a lot dull, no-one talking etc. but it seemed an easy table to play and so I stayed.

I managed to get 2 of the four flushes needed to win $500 but sadly never even got the third, which meant I could have surrendered my card for $100 as we got too close to midnight to consider chasing the magical fourth.

I got soooo close though....AKhh, on a Kxx board with 2 hearts. Never came though, sadly.

----------

AA mid pos
I raise to 11
Villain 3 bets to 30
1 caller
I shove
Both fold reluctantly, one claims AK

---------------------

QQ
There's a raise to 8
I'm in position, I 3-bet to 25
She calls
Flop is 885
She leads out for 25
I call
Turn is a 9
She checks
I bet 50
She thinks a bit then folds, saying something about having a pair but she thinks mine is better.
--------

Bleurgh...

Limped pot, I have 78
3 of us go all the way to the river...

Board was 77A...Q...A

I know there's an ace out there so fold.
---------

Flop the nuts with QT on a KJ9 board, win diddly.
Flop the nuts with A8CC, win diddly

----------

Took a walk to the food court at the MGM as I was definitely getting quite hungry...

----------
Limped family pot, I'm in with 23
Flop 238
But with 2 spades and a third on the turn

-----

Limped pot again...I'm in with K3
Flop a 3 for bottom pair lol
Checks round...
Turn a King
I toss in a 5
3 callers
River a beautiful King!
I bet 30
2 folds...and a shove from a shortie!
I call and take a nice pot...

---------

Later on I won a couple of nice pots with a nut flush and a fill house to bank a win for the day.

Plan today is to get out, get food, and then head downtown to play at the Golden Nugget.

I've never been downtown hence my visit.

Not planning a super late one as the MGM freeroll is tomorrow morning at 10am...But if it's amazing I reserve the right to change my mind

Well that didn't go according to plan...
Didn't eat, got sat straight in a game.

I haven't been this card dead for as long as I can remember.

Nearly 10 hour session and I hardly played any hands at all.

And I STILL managed to lose loads lol.

Got to say I didn't really like the nugget.
Too many locals that are soooo friendly with the staff. I felt like I was at a local home game, and wasn't tables made to feel welcome.

I even had to wear my headphones when one dealer (Tai) decided to have a loud full on conversation with a friend of his at the table.

Didn't really wander around much add I had to leave to get some sleep to play in today's 'freeroll' at the mgm.

Sunday, 26th November - 10:00am

Played the freeroll (it's actually $10) at the mgm.

Top 30 get $750 each.

Managed to play well and we are on the bubble, been hand for hand since 35 left.

As you can imagine, everyone is folding folding folding.

I have about 25k which is a big stack as it happens.

I'm in the small blind.
Blinds 2000/4000/500
Folds to me, and the big blind on left has 1k behind.

So with about 4k in antes, 6k in blinds, and he has 1k behind, I have to shove any two of course.

I shove blind, he has to call...
He has K8
I have 95
9 on the flop seals his fate.
Luckily for him another player busts the same hand on another table so they share 30th place money (375 each)

I of course get the moneeeez!

Young guy (looks like a novice), first to act, leads out for 10
Folds to me, I call

He checks, I bet 20, he calls
River a brick
He checks, I bet 55
He calls, shows AK.

Well another big loss I'm afraid...

I'm lost as to where I'm going wrong...the only thing I can imagine is that I'm playing looser than I normally would and I'm just not hitting ...and not playing as will as I know I can.

Last two hands I flopped a pair and an up and down straight draw with QT
Turned trips.

What do they give you in comps at the MGM $1 an hour?

Nice! Not sure if I've ever had a $500 chip.

So what did you have to do to qualify? This sounds like the same "freeroll" that Trooper played 100 hours to get in.

It is the second time I've had a $500 chip, the first time was when I cashed in the Venetian deepstack extravaganza in February (brag) as detailed in my first trip report.

This tournament runs every two weeks (but I believe it's going to change to every three weeks) and to qualify you had to accrue 30 hours on cash games over the two week period.

If you got over 30 hours you got 5000 starting chips, over 60 hours you got 7500 starting chips and over 100 hours you got 10,000 starting chips.

Trooper got extra money for completing 100 hours challenge as this was in addition to any winnings you made in the tournament, which by the way he also cashed in.

I am not sure at what rate you earn comps at MGM , I just know adding together comps I've earned in February and this month I have accrued over $60 worth so I think it must be approximately one dollar per hour.

Yes, I'm 3 for 3 in freerolls and in Vegas tournaments overall I'm 6 for 7 including February TR of UK player's SECOND Vegas trip. (Nov 2016)

Good idea since you're doing so well in tournaments.

Orleans on Friday if you're still there.

MGM freeroll cash even more impressive with you starting with half the chips of others.

Wow, you sure can put in the volume, I usually burn out on the poker way before you. So many things to do in Vegas, have you been to Sapphires or Spearmint Rhino yet ?

Also, you should treat yourself to a really nice dinner!
