Does anyone utilize this card? I've had a chase card here at home for years that I pay bills/gas/etc with, and pay off with cash every Friday.

I am thinking of doing the same with TR, but wondering if it was worth it, the same included with the gas card.

Also, I am flying out there and renting a car for the first 2 days. I would be using my TR card (why not), and also wondering if there are prefered business to book with for a "double bonus" type scenario. I see there is a bonus for spending so much in first 90 days, if this was legit and worked, I would pay the rent with it too, and again, carry the cash over at the end of the week.

Here is what is listed.

Use your Total Rewards Visa Card outside of a Total Rewards destination3 on qualifying purchases1 within the first 90 days to earn:

- 5,000 Reward Credits after spending $250
- An additional 5,000 Reward Credits after spending a total of $750

A flight, rental car, rent, initial groceries etc....seems to easy to boost my point total by 10,000, right? This is all money I would spend anyway. And If I can make cash payments at a bank, or online payments through paypal....then it will all be good.

Use the search function, there's already a thread discussing it. Skipping check-in and buffet lines is totally worth getting the card. I bought a laptop and flights to Vegas to cover the points needed, EZ game.

Just a FYI that point total of 10,000 is reward credits, not tier credits. So it's equivalent to $100 comps at TR properties.

The skipping check-in and buffet lines refer to the platinum status that is given for signing up for the card. Not all places allow platinum to cut lines, sometimes when the bacchanal buffet at Caesars was busy, it was Diamond or 7 Stars only.

I don't think they take payments through paypal, but I pay my bill online from my checking account.

after the spending to get the bonus-all your spending earns tr points-

1 point per $, 2 pts on gas and at supermarkets, 5 pts for spending at CET owned restaurants and hotels.

They also sometimes have special deals-right now double points at restaurants.

another perk is that the spending on the card counts to prevent points from expiring

The buffet and lines is with the rewards card / reward credits, not the charge credit card, right?

I searched all through threads and couldn't find reviews or stories pertaining to the new credit card, that's why I started the thread.

you want to log into your total rewards account, then go to the total rewards marketplace-you will see all the partners that spending will earn you RC credits, for rental cars-Dollar and Thrifty are on there

however, when I last looked the rate for my car was more through the marketplace than when I went right to Dollar's website

After the initial 1k, you earn reward points. I guess I see it as, I'm going to use a card most of the time anyway....why not get something for it.

the only thing is that you get total rewards credits; as opposed to using a cash back card (Chase Freedom, Capital One) that puts $ in the bank

Now I'm thinking use this through the 1k. grab the diamond and 10k RC and just go back to my chase card like I've been doing here at home

Platinum, not diamond.

Anyway, use both of them, just make sure you pay the balance in full and don't pay interest.

I will use the TR card for gas, (except when Chase has the 5% promo), and for now at restaurants until the double points end.

My gf just uses her TR card for everything and we've paid for a lot of stuff with our points, we go to AC and Vegas often, so it usually pays for her spa while I play poker tournaments.

.
How did you discover that restaurants are double points?

I picked up the card to avoid resort fees, but the TR points earning has some value. Unfortunately the monthly card statement does not detail the points earned, and the Total Rewards site only lists the monthly total.

My Delta AMEX card statement details the points earned, included what categories were doubled.

Or maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place....

I was sent an e-mail about the restaurants, and I think it ends 8/31.
