U know your day is bad when this happens and you are not in a BBJ room. (I am not advocating BBJ just noting normally this qualifies, right?)

Most bad beat jackpots require that both hole cards are used to make the winning/losing hand, so this wouldn't qualify. I suppose there might be rooms out there that do it differently, but I've always seen a hole card requirement.

As long as there was no A or K on the board both his cards would play.

Sorry, I should've said that differently. In the case of quads being a qualifying hand, most rooms require a pocket pair I believe.

Uneventful past few days. Played the Taylor made course on Monday. Walked the first 4 rounds and carted the last round. Starting at 630 am was the way to go. Played well the first 3 rounds and was crushing my buddy so bad I let him use the "big cup" 15 in holes. Let's just say, I was way way to generous. We are out here to have fun and mot beat each other up to bad. Our standard game is as follows:
Stroke play (I give him 4.5 strokes and we go up and down .5 stroke each round. If I win it goes to 5 strokes, I lose and it goes to 4 and so on. We have played golf together for over 15 yrs and know each other's games)
$20 stoke play per round
$2 skins with option to press to $4
$2 3 putts, sand, water, out of bounds, double pars

Then to lagasse stadium at palazzo/Venetian for bears game. What a solid experience with great food and sweet atmosphere. They had 3 options for seating with different minimums.
$100 for stadium, $50 booth and $25,patio. I will post pics from the booth when I return. Currently having problems getting logged into photobucket.

5 rounds? You played 90 friggin' holes? You should have made a Huck Seed prop bet.

It's a nine-hole par-3 course.

Short course. I think the longest hole was 180 from the blues. The longest walk was from the 9th green to the fist hole. Overall, course was very basic. The greens we're beat up as nobody repairs ball marks, did not even see rakes for the few bunkers they had. Basically the only grass was tee box and around e green. There were no fairways as it was dirt and rocks. Purchased a card in March for $100 that included 10 rounds. Figure make a morning of it the day of the bears game. Total length of course was 1200 yards or so.

Started at 635a and finished at 1pm

On a side note I have noticed a trend. Is it common in Canada to ask for a "wash" after every few hands?

Maybe he came from Commerce.

During most WSOP tournaments they wash after every hand.

No bbj? Isn't that the only reason to play micro stakes limit holdem? It isn't called "no foldem holdem" for nothing.

There is no bbj at Bellagio. And even if there was he often wouldn't win it anyway because a lot of places require you to have a pocket pair when you lose with quads.

Also, the places that don't require a pocket pair will pay a lot less.

Had a great dinner with Gobboboy and company last night at Musashi. This will be a permanent stop for ALL Vegas trips going forward. The food was great along with all of the freshly made special sauces on the grill. Went with the steak and chicken combo. The chef was great and it was very entertaining.

I am thinking about buying a timeshare at Tahiti Village. I am tired of paying the resort fees to stay on the strip.

Does anyone have any experience with timeshares or can shed any light? I would be buying from a third party and not direct from the high pressure sales people.

Looking at $2k upfront and maintenance fees of 550/ year.

What do you get for that price? How many weeks/year? Fixed dates? How many bedrooms and square footage? Could you rent out the rooms if you can't come one of your designated weeks?

That's really cheap for a timeshare. Whenever I've looked at them, the maintenance fees would basically buy a hotel room for 3 or 4 days anyway.

A few years ago when I was still going to Vegas way too aften, I toyed with the idea of buying something like a Signature unit, and rent it out when I wasn't visiting. If you visited a lot, you could also rent a furnished apartment for what a weekend hotel rooms costs for 4 nights. Hotel prices have not reached that point yet, but they're heading that way.

1 week per year floating week and can rent out room at my discression. I am a regular to Vegas and make it out a minimum of 2 weeks per year. Since I don't degen in the pits or slots/vp anymore, it would be nice to know my fee for a room is 550/week for one of the weeks. Just think of the time I can save grinding my Vegas slots lol

After 3 straight losing sessions, time to mix it up at the Orleans. Put on extra deodorant as this place has a funky smell from the moment you walk in. Despite the extra $1 rake, it's worth a shot to get out of the funk.

I agree 100% with you. The MGM signature was on the higher end than what I am currently looking to spend at this time. Plan to start with one week and see how it goes. Pick up a second week next year if everything goes smooth.

Being a few miles from the strip has its pros and cons.
Since wife and I play exclusively poker and it's at Bellagio, Venetian and 2% Orleans, it makes sense. We have already seen everything we have wanted to and know what we like when it comes to LV. It would be nice to have a fridge included and a microwave for those late nights when you have leftovers.

The only downside I see is catching the deuce for every ride. I have done the deuce on all but a few rides this trip from lux to Bellagio and have had no issues.

The Orleans does smell like hell. Cheesy, tacky, gambler purgatory. Your clothes will smell like the perfumed crap for days if you don't wash them. That said, I run good there. The LHE is confirmed no foldem Holdem with that BBJ expect crazy hands calling every flop. Every two suiteds in a straight, every pair. I quit LHE almost completely about three months ago, but happened to sit for an hour a couple weeks ago and ran like god for the entire hour. +550 due to some drunks capping everything when I had the nuts. My 1/3 game opened up and I hit and ran.

Hope you run good OP, remember he BBJ has to be hit on the flop if if the prize pool is under 75k (which it was this week) Aces full of tens beat by quad tens or better on the flop- ridiculous. But you'll be able to fold out some jackpot hands when they fail to hit their flops.

Sorry I missed your trip. Vegas 2014 for me has been less frequent than 2013, but I'll get things back on track soon. Hope you find your winning ways again.
