One question just to be clear, if I apply today to the TR, do I have to pay the resort fees at the CET properties?.

Does your level reset on January 1st? Say I achieve Diamond this year, do I have a grace period next year or automatic Gold on Jan 1st.

Are you talking about applying for the TR Credit Card? If so, the answer is no. It will get you Platinum for a year, but there are really no benefits of being Platinum anymore. You can no longer skip lines at check-in, restaurants or at the cage and you must pay resort fees.

The only benefits over being Gold are 15% discounts at gift shops and being able to gift up to 5000 Reward Credits to a friend up to twice a year. LOL

When you read the verbiage on the TR website it is confusing as hell. As I understand it, and I may be wrong, the following applies.

You accrue your Tier Credits (TC) in a calendar year. Jan 1 to Dec 31. They 'expire' on March 31 of the following year, which seems to indicate you lose your status 3 months into the next year. But this is not the case.

Example: Say you earned Diamond in 2013. You would still be Diamond for all of 2014 and until Mar 31, 2015. If you did not earn enough TCs to maintain Diamond in 2014, then you would be busted down to whatever tier level you earned.

As justification, I earned enough TCs last year to maintain Platinum and accrued no TCs in the first 3 months of this year, and I am still Platinum. So I have until Dec 31 of this year to earn enough to stay Platinum. If I don't, then I will be busted down to Gold on Mar 31 2016.

Hope that makes sense.

Yes, it was confusing when reading it online.

After going through it, Whenever you reach Diamond, you are Diamond through end of that year + the next 15 months

Believe you meant to say the answer is yes, you will have to pay resort fees since it's only platinum.

Have you confirmed that you can no longer skip the line at check-in? I noticed that the TR website didn't list that as a Platinum benefit, but I was really hoping that when I got to vegas, I would be able to skip the line like in the past.

Breakdown of benefits broken down here. I haven't been since they made this change, but I seem to recall someone mentioning it in a trip report who was staying at Flamingo and they had to wait in the normal line at check-in. Maybe someone else can confirm/deny.

I know that with platinum at the RIO you can walk into the Vip check in room and the front desk there will usually have no problems checking you in at platinum, even though it says above the doors it specifically says diamond/seven star.

I've skipped some pretty long check in lines at WSOP time using this technique.

Check-in for Platinum varies by casino. Some have separate lines at the main check out area, some don't, and some (like Rio) let Platinums use the VIP check-in room.

The best hard-drinking lounge is at Harrah's. The décor is dated and the lights are dim, but there is unlimited top shelf liquor, some of it very expensive and several big screen TV's with games on. Best upscale dive bar in Vegas.

It'll be summer, possibly fall before I get back out there unfortunately....However, having a year from the date on the letter to redeem it is beneficial in that aspect.

Used our $100 dinner at Giada's. Was very good. Raos as mentioned is very good as well.

Policies can certainly change, but fall of 2014 as a platinum I checked into Balley's using a short line to the left of the monster main line, and at the Flamingo using the enclosed room to the left of the main check-in.

Stayed at a casino over the winter holidays with work people for a work event booked and paid for by work. It was at a casino I did not have status with. We had to wait in line for what seemed like forever and that is when I really appreciated cutting the lines in Vegas. I don't know how people stand it or in fact, I don't know why the casinos don't just have more check in staff during peak hours!

Pro move is to just check your bags in with the bell hop people for a few bucks and come back and check in later.

December 2014 you could still cut lines with platinum and that was after the major policy changes

After a flight, I like to take a shower and change for dinner/night out.

No lines for online check in. Simply pick up your room key when you arrive. I've done this at Flamingo and Harrah's this past year. (I'm only gold status)

Yep the best for this by far and they've been the only one ime to always be cool with bringing 2 guests in

RE: cutting check-in lines.

I was in Vegas in early May. Ballys still has the line to the left side for Platinum. Flamingo's private room is now Diamond/Seven only. I can't imagine the front desk would turn you away and you could simply plead ignorance.

Anyone try to get the free $100 dinner this year if they got it last year?

I remember the offer expiring on 3/31/15 if you got diamond in 2014, so wondering if the promo possibly reset.
