Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?
The $20 Tip site has some hilarious upgrades, with people getting views of the IP pool, and the Luv Spa with mirrors above the bed and hottub.

Can't believe how great the $20 trick works! Walked up to the Imperial Palace check-in desk, slipped a 20 b/t my CC & DL, asked if they had any upgrades available and they obliged by setting me up in a whole different hotel!

Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?
lol that's funny but I must admit I did try the $20 trick myself and it didn't work. It was July 4th weekend though so they were probably too packed to upgrade me. Oh well... Staying at Venetian this weekend and I'm very excited, not to mention very glad I'm not staying at this cesspool of a hotel this time.

Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?
Hey guys
Stayed there for 10 days. Was my first vegas trip and yeah I was impressed. Why??It is so f*c*in* central.
In the happy pool hour u get 1,3l Fosters premium beer for 6 bucks without gambling. If ur not in drinking mood just head to the poker room - u find a lot folks there who really are in drinking mood. Especially in the evening hours.
I really used the IP to crash and gamble. I was so excited to see the strip and to play in other poker rooms i really didn't care for the lousy elevator/room/food.

Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?
$20 trick definitely works at IP. I stay here for long trips where I just need a place to crash and don't want to blow $100 to $200 a night for a room. Don't bring a girlfriend or wife here but it's good enough for someone who is gonna be too busy in Vegas to spend time in his room other than to sh*t, shower, shave, and sleep.

Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?
I stayed there this July on my first trip to Vegas. Maybe I was lucky but it was actually one of the better hotels I've stayed at in my life. Elevators broke one day and that sucked real hard, but the 3 of us spent like 5-7 hours there a day and most of that was just sleeping anyway. The Dealertainment is amusing as you head out and the staff was really friendly to us. For $30 a night in that location, you just can't beat it.
If you're looking for luxury, definitely not going to be your best bet. But if you plan on spending a vast majority of the time outside of your room, are a huge penny pincher, and just want a good location then this is the place to be.
I am 21, so take that into consideration too

Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?
I've stayed there at least a half dozen times, and it can't be beat for price and location. Unfortunately for me, the location is too close to Bellagio and Mirage, where I stumble over drunk and lose money playing games I should only play when sober.

Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?
If all you want is a bed, and you arent fat and can handle walking up stairs (the elevators NEVER work), and want to stay as cheaply as possible, then its perfectly fine. All the people sayings its gross and stuff should try staying in a motel 8 or a budget inn or something, compared to those places its nice.

How do you open the doors from the stairway?

They're usually unlocked or left ajar since they get used so much cuz the elevators arent working. I stayed there for 2 weeks once, and I think only one time I couldnt get onto my floor cuz the door was locked, and I just knocked and someone who was waiting for the elevator on my floor opened it for me.

Must have had a bad timing. The first couple of days I tried it at least 3 different times without success.
After that I walked up to the Pool Floor (that door is always open), took the elevator down, stayed in and got to my room when it went up again. Disgusting, but way better than wait >10mins in the lobby.

This is why you get a room where you can use the front elevators. I have never had more than a minutes wait any time I have ever stayed there.
Agree that is is no where near Gross. It is fine.

Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?
Its Not as bad as ppl are making it out to be. The rooms are pretty plain yes but most rooms have balconies which is kinda cool to chill on late @ night. The location is really superb too. Poker room is super SUPER soft when the 1\2 game runs. 2\5 runs rarely but when it does its just as soft. The only real complaint i have is that the showers didnt drain all that well.
