Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?

Stayed at IP last summer and the place is a dump although the poker is crazy stupid easy and the drink service playing craps was very fast. The room was ok and appeared somewhat clean and it was only 30 a night. Unless your dead broke I wouldnt stay there, but I would recommend it for its soft poker room play and fast drink service, young crowd there as well. Save some more money and stay at Casino Royale or harrahs.

All the stuff in there about Engelstad is true. It's one of the reasons I would never stay at IP even when I was poor, no f'ing way was I going to support a Nazi.

Now it's owned by Harrahs, which might be worse.

This.

By far the best strip bargain hotel. It's not flashy, but it's as centrally located as you can get, and the rooms are clean...and way cheap.

Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?

+1 to all the posters who said to never bring a gf here, no matter how low/no maintenance she may be.

I have never stayed here myself, but my husband went to a bachelor party and stayed there because the groom was cash strapped. I consider my husband pretty low maintenance, where he has a far better attitude than I do, and thinks, "aww, it's just a room...who cares." He thought this place was horrid and disgusting. He was taking a shower, wondering why the water was rising up his leg, thinking he accidently stepped on the plug thing. Nope. Hair. Pubic hair, normal hair, ...HAIR.

The sheets also had burn marks on them, and they had to request a change of sheets several times before anyone came up.

The only experience I've ever had with this place is that one day I was walking around and completely famished and wanted to go eat a burger in some 'restaurant' in there. I went in, and the entire place smelled like urine. And no, I did not eat there. LOL.

Stay at the MGM and ask for the poker rate at the poker room, it's as low as 49 a night

Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?

On the 4th this year I stayed there for the 2+2 meet-n-greet. I will NEVER stay there again. I'd rather stay somewhere much nicer and be stuck playing poker half the day personally.

A few of my concerns:

1. Shower didn't drain
2. Elevators were a pain
3. Multiple cigarette burns on sheets

And the most frustrating- the ice machines weren't working on our floor. I take the stairs down a floor- not working. I go up past our floor to the next floor- not working. I go up ANOTHER floor. FINALLY an ice machine that works.

And yeah it does kinda smell but I got used to it. I definitely wouldn't bring my gf there and I would be embarrassed if I met a girl in the club and asked her to come to my room at IP to "hang out." Hell, I'd be embarrassed to call a hooker to my room there.

Now that I know the owner was a Nazi General I definitely won't be staying there for as long as I live.

That's a point i almost forgot about. IP has the worst elevators ever. I always used the stairs to go down but going up that's not possible because the doors don't open from outside.

Hash House a Go Go is opening at the IP like December 10th or something...that place is delicious, I'm glad there's gonna be one on the strip because that's way closer to me than the one on Sahara...I hope it's as good as that one...

Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?

sucky hotel / great location. if you are going by yourself, are not planning on staying the room except to sleep, and want an inexpensive hotel I wouldn't rule it out. the pool was extremely loud even with my glass door shut so try to get a room where it is not so loud.. oh yeah... the elevators do really suck

Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?

Great if u get a ground floor. but....

Worst elevators on earth. Worse than the elevator in a 2 floor seniors center.

You can get to the Voodoo Lounge on the 50-ish floor of the Rio quicker than getting 2 floors on the IP elevator. Plus the wait to get an elevator is really bad.

Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?

Don't stay on the 14th floor, cause one of the elevators doesn't stop there. So after you hit the button and it doesn't light up, you have to leave the elevator and try another one.

The 6th floor is pretty good cause one of the elevators stops there automatically, so it saves you a button press.

Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?

if youre staying at the IP, bring your OWN pillow. friends stayed their last vegas trip and said that the pillows were equivalent to the tip of a q-tip in a pillow case.

Imperial Palace is the trailer park of the Las Vegas strip.
