Thoughts on Imperial Palace?
So I want to use my stupid credit card reward points, and all I can goddamn afford with the god forsaken points that I accrued by being Bank of America's little bitch is Imperial Palace. Well, that and a few others, but I know the others are too far/off the strip. Is Imperial as bad as some of the reviews say it is? I mean just going to go with gf for spring break and we'll only use the place for the hotel room, def won't play there or eat there. Thoughts?

Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?
If the IP is all that you can get then it isn't THAT bad.
Seriously its fine if your girlfriend won't judge you after.
Book the room. Do the $20 trick and ask to upgrade to "Luv Tub Room"
Do kinky **** with said gf and hooker.
blow optional
great time will ensue.

Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?
The IP is fine for just a place to crash, poop and shower. If your GF is not the picky high maintenance type it will be fine. If she is looking for extravegance you might be in trouble.
Seriously the IP is fine if you do not go into it with too high and expectation and are just looking for an inexpensive place to stay in a great location.

Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?
Spend there 2 weeks this summer and don't think it's that bad for max. 2 persons. At least my room and bath were clean and the quality of the bed was OK.
On the downside, TVs are crappy and walls are really thin.
Honestly, i don't think i could have demanded much more from a hotel room which was cheaper than my apartment at home. And the location is one of the best on the strip imo, 5min to Venetian/Bellagio, you can't be much more in the center of it.

Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?
I spend 2 months in that hotel, then spend 1 week in Bellagio. Imperial palace sucks.
No but serious IP sucks.

Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?
Do not eat there unless you want food poisoning. Don't even think about ordering room service.
Some rooms are pretty bad - the shower had to be repaired repeatedly in the room I got.
If your girlfriend will be happy to be with you and you two are committed to having a good time together, I'd go for it.
If she will say, "why does this room suck?", "why does the lobby smell?", and/or "why are you so cheap that you took me to this dump?", then I wouldn't consider it... period.

Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?
It's like a fat girl, When you ask how she looks people will say "She has a great personality and a real hunger for fun" but we all know that that's just code word for she's fat!
IP is a dump, if it's you and your GF's first trip to Vegas I would say don't stay there, she'll get the wrong first impression of Vegas and probably dump you when you get back home.

I took my first trip to Vegas two months ago. It was awesome. The gambling, the drinking, the poker, the loose women, the food. I was impressed.
I stayed at the Imperial Palace six nights for an average of something like $30/night. I spent about 6-7 hrs/day in my room. About 45 mins of that time was time that I was awake (shower, shave, etc.). The bed was reasonably comfortable, the sheets were clean, and the shower worked.
I gambled and/or played poker at Hooters, MGM, Bellagio, Caesar's, Mirage, O'Shea's, Imperial Palace, and Venetian. I drank at all of those places and others. I bet on sports at many of those places. I ate at many of those places and others.
I was able to get anywhere on the Strip fairly easily from the IP. There was action in the pits there and in the poker "room" (four or five tables) pretty much anytime I was there (which usually was in the early morning or in the early afternoon). You're not going to want to spend all of your poker/gambling time in any one place, let alone the IP, because you will want to sample the wide variety of rooms available to you in such a close space.
Finally, I suggest you choose the IP because it will encourage you to get out there and experience Vegas instead of sitting in your room drinking because you have an awesome view/bed/jacuzzi/whatever.

Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?
stayed at the IP for my first vegas trip 13mos ago and it was so nasty but actually funny for me and my friends.
one day, just before you get to the elevators where the slots are to your left (just past the keno and tiki bar), the ceiling had collapsed a bit and was soaking the corner slot area with human feces. My friends and I never laughed so hard while we were talking through and guys in body suits are putting powder on everything and cleaning it all down, with 2 old people playing in a slot bank just on the other side of all the poo. We came back down an hour or two later and it was all cleaned and taped off with plastic over the infected machines.
Absolutely fantastic place to stay at if you don't mind laughing at how nasty it is. Also they will liquor you up like no other at the roulette tables (never played or saw a poker room/area there, I think they had some electronic poker tables but IDK)

Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?
I love the sawdust joints, just sort of like the feel of them and the places like Gold Coast and the Imperial Palace. If you want cheap blackjack and craps then that may be the place for you. It's got a great location and if you want to play in a lot of different poker rooms pretty much all of them are walking distance or by the monorail. The room is usually clean, but not in prime condition, the shower works and it is more than adequate imo.
The only consideration in this case is that you are taking the girl friend. I think staying there depends highly on what kind of girl your gf is in this case. If she is the type of girl who likes staying cheap to get a reasonably low-stakes place to gamle and get cheap Pai Gow, Craps, BlackJack and the like then this may be the place for you. Keep in mind she has to not mind having a Motel 6 type room. If she doesn't gamble that much then you may want to consider staying elsewhere and giving her a nicer room if she is going to be spending some time there. Whenever I go out there with a woman I want to give her a nice room so I only stay at IP with friends or by myself. If it is imporant to give your gf a nice place to lay her head this may not be the best option for you. Harrah's and Bally's both have good location and much nicer rooms (even the Deluxe Luv Tub rooms in IP are not that great imo) and are reasonably priced (but more expensive than IP). You are prolly better off staying there if this is a consideration for you imo. Just my two cents and I look forward to the trip report.

Re: Thoughts on Imperial Palace?
I went there last weekend for the drunken poker I keep hearing about, but I've never stayed there. Def. lower end, but everyone looked like they were having a good time drinking their huge drinks. The "dealertainers" were somewhat amusing as well.
Sometimes low end, low key is perfectly okay.
