Brilliant TR so far.

I'll be following with interest as I have been saving for separate usd roll just for Vegas for a while now (been twice before) in hope that this is the best way to get some regular trips, providing I dont bust it in first couple.

Cadburys definitely a staple part of the British diet

That KK hand I don't think I ever fold. I think JJ QQ are more in his range than AA. I could be wrong, but I pay off otherwise. Maybe I'm just a LAG spewtard .

Nice TR though.

If you're a sneaker head, especially with the Air max line, check out the "Griffey air max 360" I've had like 4 different pairs of the Griffey line, so f'in comfortable, and a bit more stylish too IMO.

@UniqueFreak: Thx, and gl to you building the roll. It's definitely worth it even though it might not be the most +EV decision when we could be grinding online for me it has a high happiness EV

@wombat/dance/bubonic: TY!

@Pork: Thx, I am indeed a sneaker head but only into the oldschool air max types like 1 and 90.

Part 5 - Sunday 02/10

We slept in a little late today and had breakfast in our room since we could get hands on a fridge for our stuff from wholefoods (nit tipp: always say it's for medicine and get it complimentary).

Afterwards we headed over to the B for our first session. There was some action going on in Bobbys Room with Eli, Doyle and people I didn't recognize.

Steve and I got seats in different 2/5 games. I was lucky enough to flop a set in a huge multiway pot. The good thing in livepoker is you have all this extra dead money coming your way when dragging a pot since so many people entered in the first place.

Few hours into the session my buddy Dieter came to visit us. He had his day off and brought his family along to wander around the strip with them. I joined them and we made our way to Aria by tram.

I somehow love this cocos smell they have there. It's the same with the smell in the Mirage and they also have it at the trop now I think. Tried to get into a 2/5 game there but the room was packed, the waitlist showed like 20+ names and they told me they weren't going to be able to open another table soon.

So I said goodbye to Dieter and his family who wanted to move on and made my way back to the B via Tram to find Steve for lunch.

Steve didn't want to leave his game as he was stuck so I decided to trade some comps for a pizza at Snacks.

Obligatory Picture of free nit lunch:

While browsing interwebs during lunch I suddenly saw 4(!) 2/5 games being spread at Caesars. They usually run 1 game max. Thought it might be a mistake but decided to give it a chance and walked over there via the bridge from the B. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was actually true: They ran a WSOP circuit event and the room was packed. I got a seat pretty fast and my table was great. A lot of splashy tournament players with big money on the table.

The session went great and I managed to drag a big pot against one of those splashy tournament guys who raised my turnbet with A 8 on a dry A8T7 board. I was pretty confident I had the best hand and wanted to give him more rope planning to x/c most rivers. The 8 OTR only added insult to injury so I could x/jam, got called, tabled my hand and only saw his cards quickly hitting the muck.

In the evening I met up with Steve who was really tired and heading to bed, so I had to go grind all for myself again. Drove to the Wynn, wasn't too happy with my 2/5 game there that night and saw another 2/5 at the Mirage on Bravo - off to the Mirage again.

Little did I know that the main theme of me playing at the Mirage that night would be flatting my nose on the shopping window of a candy store:

The game was great and I had immediate position on a whale to my right but I couldn't get into any good spots with him. There were only three regs at that table with me and when one of them got into a huge pot with the whale I couldn't help rooting for the whale deep inside. He ended up gettting it in with A4 on AJ4 and when the whale flipped his JJ I found myself celebrating inside a little...but that was only for a second when I heard him say "good night folks, it was a pleasure playing with you. See you tomorrow?". Everyone nodded, and soon enough the game was breaking up again. Two of the regs regs left and so did the other recreational players.

I was just about to take off myself but then a drunk couple came over and bought in for the 750 max. They could barely say a sentence that made any sense and he had to explain to her what she had to do every time. The reg and me had to fight hard not to salivate on the felt, but things just wouldn't be working out for me that night. The drunk lady spewed off her chips to people around the table and when I finally 3-bet the reg with QQ and got coldcalled by her I had to succumb to K4 when I spitecalled her remaining $80 on a KJ3 flop.

Regardless I can hardly complain about how the day went for me overall. I booked a nice win and was looking forward to the next week.

Up next: First session at the Aria meeting more German fellow nits

@Manzanito: That pizza is really kinda small for $10 but I like it since it's one of the few dishes that they assured me didn't have any garlic in it - I'm highly allergic to it although I love garlic I'm kind of a weird eater anyway, and for that reason I can't really enjoy buffets in Vegas anymore since most food has garlic in it. Freakin nit with allergy!

@NDfan: I will try to think of some more if I can haha.

@Golfballer: I think it was already a bet on the next hand but yeah that would have been awesome. However, my villain did steam off his rebuy and left a few hands later iirc.

@Titan: ty sir!

In Feb CET properties didn't have resort fees yet so Internet at the Quad cost $10/night. I used to have a cricket USB stick as a prepaid solution everytime I went to Vegas but lost it and couldn't make it to the cricket store on the first night since they close at 7pm.

Great TR!

I live in Frankfurt at the moment, so when I get the urge to play live I usually head to Wiesbaden and I agree, atmosphere and service suck big time, they almost make you feel like you should be glad they even allowed you in. Rake is capped at 2 Euros though, so definitely nit-tastic! In addition, even if the rake was higher, it wouldn't be that much of a factor there as you often have 300bb stacks getting it in with overpairs and TPTK.

Moving back to the US soon and might do 6 months in Vegas, so own TR coming up!

All the best!

Part 6

I woke up the next day with a massive headache and couldn't see Steve anywhere. He must have grinded all night since one of his last messages I got was something along the lines of "I'm stuck but they're handing out free money left and right".

Got some nitfast out of the fridge and took a pill against the headache before making my way over to the B. I met a tired and soulcrushed Steve at the entrance to Flamingo. His nightshift didn't go too well it seemed. He advised me to take his seat in one of the 2/5's he played which I did - turned out to be the only 2/5 running that early anyway.

The game was quite good but I could hardly focus on playing good poker and produced some betsize fails with my head still pounding. Failed to stack the table target's 88 with my K K on such a neat 4 3 4 board since my pot planning was atrocious and my riverbet was too big. It feels so humiliating when you are valuebetting, villain tanks and says "good bet!" while folding his 2nd best hand.

After a couple of hours I decided to quit with a small profit and returned to the Flamingo for a nap to get rid of my headache. Took a detour to Munchbar @Caesars and made this another cheap nit day by using comps for the burger. That fancy sauce they put on there is really awesome!

Got some good rest while drowsing and watching the latest Walking Dead episode. When my headache was finally gone and Steve was sleeping I decided to play my swing shift session at the Wynn.

My table was really good and I could take down a lot of uncontested pots without having a real hand - so when I finally raised TT after a couple of limpers getting calls from everyone and their family I was delighted to see the T in the door along with the 8 and the 3. SB donked out 20, got called, I raised to 85 and got coldcalled by a young lady and the other two guys.

So let's see...

Dealer, all I'm asking is don't put out a diamond, 9, 7, J or Q...

Turn Q *gulp*

...ah f**k just pair the board on the river!

There's ~500 in the pot with me having about 400 left.

...arrrrrrrrrrr in!

Snapcall by the lady didn't scare me at all since I thought she would have 33 or 88 much more often here. The other two guys folded to my delight and I took it down on a blank river. When she talked to a friend from a different table later on I overheard that she did indeed get oversetted.

Later that session I had to make a couple of bigger laydowns with good preflop hands and top pair type ones where I got shown the winner everytime by my kind opponents. With more and more pots I got involved in getting shipped to other directions I stood up booking the win before my frustration and turning image would finally help out my opponents too much.

Up next: Leaving the nitshell for shopping & GO upgrade!

Part 7

Steve and I managed to finally match our sleeping schedules and both woke up very early. Since he had never played at Aria before and I figured that there would be less regs at this time of the day we headed over there. We enjoyed the early morning Vegas sun and the blue sky on our walk. Weather in Germany had been so incredibly bad this year the Vegas wheather was a huge remedy for our snow-crushed souls.

We crossed the Bridge to Bellagio and had a nice early morning walk through empty casino floors and an empty tram to Aria.

When we got there they had two 2/5 games running and each had an open seat. I immediately ordered my early morning espresso macchiato and got a capuccino, but that was ok since coffee at Aria is quite good in general. I quickly explained to the waitress what an espresso macchiato is and she promised to get me one on the next round.

The game was playing out pretty tight and snug, no real donations anywhere, everyone seemed tired and exhausted, so I had to switch from nitmode to barrelmode - which worked pretty well and I managed to run my stack up a little without seeing a single showdown.

At the end of the session I got acquainted with a fellow German at my table who had already met Steve the other day. He has been living the dream here in Vegas for 5 years now and we exchanged our experiences when and where to find good games. Great guy! He was just about to leave for vacation to Germany the next day so we agreed on meeting up again in the summer when we are all in town together for the WSOP.

I left my game and Steve in the afternoon to head over to Caesars to get some lunch and do some shopping for the wife at teh Forum Shops. I walked through the entire casino and let my mind wander a bit. I enjoy walking through Caesar's Palace and the Forum Shops somehow. Like the amtosphere there. When I arrived at the Cheesecake Factory they were playing the Fate of Atlantis show. I know that show in and out but I still somehow enjoy it everytime...it contributes a lot to that special atmosphere.

I treated myself to a Mango Key Lime Cheesecake for takeaway, bought some stuff at the Abercrombie Store for my wife. Headed back to our room afterwards and got some rest after indulging myself with that cheesecake.

When Steve returned his roomkey didn't work anymore so we went downstairs to get a new one. The receptionist we talked to was really kind and all of a sudden asked us if we wanted to make use of the current promo offer to upgrade to a GO room for $10/night. We left our nitshell for once and snapcalled. Few minutes later we packed our stuff and got to a much more conveniently located GO room on the 21st floor. The elevators to the GO rooms are in a much better location near the parking garage (which I still haven't figured out yet because of its strange criss-cross pathways) and they are really neat. Much more comfortable beds, nice clean bathroom and a great view also:

After chilling out in our room and flipping for beds (I won for the first night) we drove to the Wynn for swing shift. They had a main game running that looked awesome - just judging from the money and people at the table.

However we had to grind our way through a much tougher must move game and just couldn't get anything working for us here. Big pots were played left and right but in the end most money ended up in the pockets of a very young and good regular. Steve got into a huge blindbattle with him and ended up on the short end. After two hours of not winning any pots and no seats opening in the maingame we decided to quit and go to sleep.

Up next: A visit to fellow nits at Red Rock
