Sure, but the subway only goes to the new terminal. What a PITA to get over there if you flew into the other one.

I asked what route I should be taking. I did not ask whether or not to take the tunnel!
Not sure this 2+2 forum should in any way be considered a "community". What's the point of asking for advice here if all you get is responses like yours.

Did you read the part where your question has been answered repeatedly ITT? Browse a few pages and find your answer instead of being defensive and lazy.

If you ask an FAQ, which has been answered over and over in a thread, people are going to often be unhelpful, and sometimes attempt to gain some levity from it. If you were among a group of friends (a "community") and did the same thing, would they not all throw wadded up napkins at you and mock you?

Re: Taxi Longhauling
Look, I used the search feature and got no specific response for my question. And "browsing a few pages" is not what this thread is about. We're on page 41 currently. Not many people want to wade through that many posts.
If I want a quick and dirty answer as to what route my cabbie should be taking so I don't get longhauled I think it would require minimal positive energy from a poster. Instead posters seem to relish expending negative energy to denigrate benign simple requests.
I realize the average IQ on this forum here is higher here compared to an typical internet message board but so is the a-hole factor it seems

"Hi, I'm going to the Cosmopolitan. Could you take Swenson to Harmon please." And that should be that.

"Could you take Swenson to Paradise please." (Or Swenson to Trop and then Koval--they're about the same.)
If you're staying at the Rio, Palms or Gold Coast just instruct the cabbie to take Swenson to Trop and then take the I-15 to Flamingo.

(yes, he got north/south mixed up)
And yes, some people were dicks to you. But tons of people come into this thread asking the same question over and over, and occasionally, especially when the poster is brand new and hasn't contributed to the community, people get frustrated about it and respond like they did here.

I like Dean Martin shortcut from Trop to Rio for WSOP. It avoids Flamingo off-ramp light and is a straight shot to Twain.

Roger. Looks like you must have dropped a bundle at the WSOP, but I applaud you for getting a new job to build your roll back. Good luck in your start this Saturday for the Sugar Land Skeeters!
FWIW - On our last trip to Vegas couple of weeks ago, we got in at 11:00am on a Saturday. Zipped through the cab line and just told the cabby "Flamingo Please." $13.80 later we were being dropped off without having had the pleasure of touring the tunnel. I flipped him $30.00 and told him I appreciated him not long hauling us. He just smiled and said, "that's not the way I roll."
Also, Flamingo has a dedicated airport shuttle that does not stop at any other hotels for $7.00. I think it runs round trip twice an hour, but both times I have taken it, I caught it right when it was leaving. Don't know if other strip hotels do this, but would think other CET properties probably do?

Re: Taxi Longhauling
Venetian has a $6 shuttle, from Venetian-Airport, but don't know where it is at the airport side, only been dropped off. Ask at the outside luggage drop off near check in , and they will tell you about the shuttle.

Since this is the de facto official longhauling thread, perhaps a mod could put the relevent parts you quoted into the OP, or a link to Crane's post that includes it? Should make it easier to find those default routes.

Re: Taxi Longhauling
Call me crazy, but I dont really get why you spend 40 pages talking about cabbies ripping people off, then when someone comes in and asks for advice on how to avoid getting ripped off, you lash out at them. Personally, I'd rather pay the cabbie the extra five bucks than sift through 40 pages trying to figure it out.

Thanks. It sounds like saying "Can you please take Swenson?" will get me on the right track with no disagreements upon arrival.
And I agree about putting relevant info at first page.
The fact this topic has generated over 40 pages says something. And it's that people in general don't mind paying for extra stuff especially on vacation but as soon as they feel they've been taken advantage of then it's another story.

It's been said though by myself and others- and I think this is good advice- that just going with "no tunnel" is better if you don't really know the geography well. Getting specific can get you rung up as soon as corrupt cabbie says "lots of traffic on Koval today" or whatever. I and others know how to rebut that because I know the streets like the back of my hand, but if you're not terribly familiar you can get yourself in trouble.
Hence: "___ Hotel, no tunnel." Done.
Also, "please take Swenson" would make you sound like a noob anyway. Nobody says that. In "please take X", X would generally be Tropicana, Paradise, Koval.
