Re: Taxi Longhauling

i'd imagine this would get annoying and perhaps costly if you go to vegas a lot. But honestly ive never been to vegas im going there in 2 days... if they take the tunnel i wont give a **** over an extra $10 lol and ill probably tip too

i wonder how many stupid tourists like me dont want any hassle and arnt cheap enough to care about $10

haha yep, I shoulda just told him to beat it totally but I still gave him what should have been the right fare amount...funny side note I don't think I shared with you on one of my taxi trips back from Rio the guy didn't charge me for traffic @ Rio (5-7mins), took me on a faster back street route back, and didn't charge me while we waited for the valet traffic @ THEhotel..my fare was $13 I gave him $30...not even trying to be "baller" or whatever just saw someone busting his ass and being a stand up guy which was awesome to me after the intial airport scumbag tried to screw me...

So you're ok with people stealing from you? Because that's what's happening. What you're doing is getting mugged and then telling the guy "wait, here's a few more bucks for your trouble."

Re: Taxi Longhauling

While I was in the cab line I punched in "Rio All Suites" in the Iphone maps app and made sure the cab never veered from the recommended routes. $19.30 from the airport, perfect. I think many trips ago I was charged $26 to Harrah's, never happening again though.

Re: Taxi Longhauling

Me to cab driver: "Bally's please, no tunnel". Cab driver: "No tunnel eh?" in a tone implying that he was going to take the tunnel and that it was the wrong choice. Although he didn't tunnel me I felt he may not have been taking the most direct route. There wasn't much traffic and the fare was $20.80 (about what I expected including tip) so I just gave him $21. Cab driver angrily: "Where's my tip?". He didn't argue when I said that the fare should not have been over $20 so I guess I was right.

It's a pretty ridiculous situation when you can't just sit back in a cab and relax because you've got to try to track the route to see if you're being screwed. If you're not from the US and the cabbie isn't being blatent it isn't that easy to know either as the data cost of using google maps abroad can be prohibitive.

SO FRUSTRATING. Cost us 17 bucks to get to venetian from the airport. Return trip was 35 bucks + tip. On the return trip he went north of the strip and then took some freeway...

Excuse me? "+ tip"?! WTF? This is a level, right?

You're at the airport. See all those guys with badges? You tell the cabbie to take his $35 meter and stuff it, and point at the closest badge and yell. Cabbie will beg you to shut up and walk away quietly.

Revenge is a dish best served cold. But when the opportunity to serve it up warm appears, few pass up the opportunity.

Re: Taxi Longhauling

The Monorail should have been built from the airport to Mandalay Bay and then continued down the strip. Why it was ever built from Sahara to MGM Grand we'll never know.
