It is located at the ned of the spot where you pick up your luggage.

I had a nice friendly chat with the desk clerk and then got him to agree that the $25 resort fee really sucked. I asked if there was any way he could waive it for $20. He said sure and I saved myself $125. This was a few months ago. Don't just shove twenty in their face. Develop a rapport and it might work for you.

Even if it does not work, I don't think you will be unhappy with the standard rooms at the MGM. They are decent and the hotel is nice.
Cheers will have to try that.

Re: Stupid question about the $20 trick

So, what do you actually say/do when you try this? Just when you go up to check in, slip the $ across the desk and ask something like, "are there any upgraded rooms I might be able to get into?" idk, I'm a fish and think I would feel hella awk trying it.

"Keeping in mind that if you can help me out I'll help you out, are there any complimentary upgrades to X suite available?"

Re: Stupid question about the $20 trick

I'm checking in at Aria this Sunday for 8 nights. Booked a standard room, but will try the 20$ trick (well 50 or 100). I'll use the lines recommended by eco74 and others in this thread and in the sticky, something like:

"any complimentary upgrades to a suite available? I can tip 100 when it comes to excellent service, and I'd rather give my money to you than to the casino"

I'm kind of bummed to learn that Aria isnt super opened to these kind of practices, but I'll take my shot anyway (should have booked at Caesars or something)

Any other recommendations welcomed

You can always cancel and rebook at CP. CP's rates are cheaper and no resort fees (easy $20 trick).

Please update us with a checkin report, I've stayed at ARIA a few times but have never used the "20$" trick there. I'll be checking in there in 2 weeks for 4 nights with my girlfriend.

Aria >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Caesars

But your problem is likely the 8 nights. I got upgraded to a suite at Aria but I was there for three nights midweek in December.

And don't give $100, give $20, maybe $50. Giving $100 only raises the price for everyone else. The amount of the tip you're giving doesn't determine what they're giving you anyway.

Ok so I just checked in (Sunday evening, late, around 11.30pm) and the 20$ trick was a fail.

The girl laughed when after asking for a complimentary upgrade to a suit I said "I tip great for excellent service" then said "I understand sir but I'm afraid we have nothing available".

She then proceeded to tell me to try again tomorrow, which I'll do. Dont really know what to make of it. Are they really booked on a Sunday evening in August?

I'm on the 29th floor though, with a view on the Bellagio and Vdara (but not fanstastic, parkings and stuff, dont think i see the fountains).

Also I did not tip her anything ofc, but I wonder if she was expecting something taking in account I have a strip view. Dunno.

Lets hope the rest of the trip gets better rungood than this.

The TVs were all pretty standard size flat screens. Nothing out of the ordinary, so they must have changed.

Checking in at Bally's again later this week. I'll let you know if the $20 run good continues...
