Your plan to upgrade seems unlikely. The next step up after a Go room is a big difference....not sure the 20 tip is gonna go over too well considering the rate is probably a 200 bucks per night (x8) difference.
The Go mini suite isn't that big of a bump up, but even so, $20 trick for 8 nights probably not enough.

3N1GM4, the $20 trick would be more likely to work if you booked a Fab room and attempted to upgrade to a Go with the $20 trick. However, being there for 8 nights, they still may be hesitant to do it.

Has anyone bothered to stay in both the Fab and Go rooms at Flamingo? I have a Fab booked for Wed. and Thurs. night before slumming it to the IP for the weekend. Since I don't plan on docking an iPod in my room, is it even worth me bothering to upgrade? I can handle a TV that's only 32" and not having a TV in my bathroom mirror. Other than that, it looks like the Fab is about the same to me from the description.

I see. I guess city view is technically an upgrade (I know they do charge more for it) but my opinion on it is that there's no such thing as a great view from Aria. Their City View is mostly just a view of the valet and that ****ty strip mall across the street. I'd advise anyone staying at Aria to not worry about what view they end up with, since they all suck. Best advise I can give for staying there is to ask for a room closer to the elevator, since the walks down the hall are loooooong. And there's zero chance I'd pay $20 extra for that.

Very true! Ive stayed at the aria at least 10 times and I got a city view once and wasn't worth it. Only good views are from bellagio IMO.... We once stayed at a suite on the top floor of the mirage and it was so high that the view sucked lol!

yeah it wasnt anything "special" but was decent and directly in the middle of the valet circle. I saw miracle mile shops directly in front of my window. IDK the price diff per night. but the 20 bomb trick worked for it

Re: Stupid question about the $20 trick

Staying 10 nights at the Flamingo 6/27-7/7 in a "Fab" room for $197 total. Going to try to work the $20 for a Go room. Will post and let you know what happens.

Re: Stupid question about the $20 trick

Tried at the Rio. Didn't quite work. He let me check in 5 hours early so I could play my WSOP event, though. So after he passed me the twenty back, I gave it right back to him. I had one night comped and the other night for 27 bucks. Not like I was paying the casino much to begin with.

Tried at the Luxor. I had two regular two-queen rooms booked for my group and me. She put us in the towers and made sure our rooms were joined together. I don't know if it was an actual upgrade or a side-grade, but I'm glad I didn't have one of those diagonal ceiling rooms I've seen pictures of...

Re: Stupid question about the $20 trick

Used the $20 trick at Ceasers three weeks ago and it worked like a charm, got moved from std room in Augustus tower to a room twice the size in the Palace tower overlooking the pool area, was impressed with the room.

One time for the whole stay. When you check in at the hotel lobby.

Tried the $20 trick when I checked into Rio late tuesday night. The guy said he would always do it but they were too booked up that night.

Re: Stupid question about the $20 trick

if we have a Hollywood Hip room with 2 beds, is there much point to try the trick? is there any upgrade worth it that will keep us with 2 beds or would it be worth to have a nice room with 1 bed and ask for a rollaway or something?
