Rooms are cheap with comps, last year I payed a grand total of $30 to stay 5 nights at IP during WSOP (yes, $6/day), before I used points to make it completely free. The year before, I paid $56 for 5 nights.

When I go to vegas, I don't play table games but I typically lose about $100 to video poker over a 4 to 5 day stay. This and several hours of poker each day gets me offers like the one above. I was going to go a couple of weeks ago but canceled, I think I got quoted $57 for Fri, $57 for Sat and 3 more nights free at Ballys.

Point is, you don't have to be a high limit degen to get decent offers. You gotta take advantage of the players' cards and make it work for you.

How do you get rooms so cheap if you don't mind sharing?

You're not getting comped rooms by spending $100 on video poker over a 5 day stay....

I just took a look at my TR Offers for a 7 night stay (in late November). 5 nights were labeled FREE or COMP and the two weekend nights were 65/night at the Flamingo.

In the last 12 months I've
1) Bought into a 1.5k WSOP event.
2) Played a few hours of craps at the Rio. (+300)
3) Played an hour of video poker while eating dinner. (-40)
4) Played a couple hours of craps at Harvey's in Lake Tahoe. (+800)
5) Played a couple hours of craps at Harrah's in Reno. (-400)

It doesn't take much. I wouldn't be surprised if I was in the same offer tier (I'm guessing in this case the card tier doesn't matter much) as B4L. But the idea is that you don't have to degen much to get these offers.

why does this thread still live... it seems to have outgrown it's original programing.

so then, does this thread constitute a lifeform?

Could be wrong, but I think some pit bosses can make notes to affect comps on an ongoing basis. Three years ago, four of dropped around 1k total playing bj at IP.. The pit boss Frank was enjoying the druken display and gave us free dinner....

Ever since that night, rooms at IP are ten dollars a night for me and all nights free for my buddy... Lololo

No one truly knows how TR rewards really works.

yes you will. i get stuff in the mail all the time. i average about 40 hours per month in harrah's properties playing nothing higher than $1/$2 NL. I just had an offer for a free room on the 4th of July in AC. I will check the pamphlet at home to see what my free offers are for LV later tonight.

About 4 years ago my mom reached diamond status with Harrah's by being a slot junky. At the same time, I signed up for a card with Sandia Casino in Albuquerque, which has no affiliation with Harrah's, but must somehow trade mailing lists. I did not have a Harrah's card at the time and had maybe visited Vegas twice in the few years prior.

I went to Sandia 3 times in a span of 2 months and dropped $20 into video poker each time and played a few hours of poker. All of a sudden, I received in the mail an offer for 2 free nights at Harrah's Las Vegas. At the same time, my mom received a coupon to give to friends/family for an 2 nights at Caesars. My wife and I booked the 4 nights, we stayed 2 at Harrah's, then moved across the street. As we registered, the desk clerk went "woah, u got a nice room". We had booked 2 months ahead of the trip, but I think we got lucky. We got a huge room 3 floors from the top of tower overlooking the bellagio fountains.

The room was old, but huge and awesome. Our previous trip to Vegas was paid for by my work and we stayed at the Wynn...I prefered the Caesars room because it was larger with a better view, even if the carpet/furniture were outdated.

The rest, as they say, is history. Since then, I go to Vegas about 3 times a year, making sure I get points on my Total Rewards card at least every 6 months. This has resulted in the offers I get.

I don't put in massive hours at the poker table, so I know that these offers are a result of my -EV machine play. When I say about $100 per trip, I mean that I have kept fairly accurate estimates of my video poker play and that is about my average net loss for any given trip (you can sign into your Total Rewards account to see how much you spent on machines in a given year).

I may play a few hundred dollars, but I run pretty good and only lose about $100 per trip (well, maybe it was more prior to my last trip where I came out ahead due to a royal flush).

When I add in the number of Sierra Nevada's I drink that I didn't have to pay $5 a bottle for, I probably come out even. Then, I get rooms for next to nothing...it probably ends up being only a few dollars lost overall and may even be +EV.

I think I got lucky, getting into Total Rewards at a moment when the economy was really bad and Vegas casinos were making really good offers to come out to Vegas. Then I just continued riding that train and the offers continued.

As I said before, you don't have to be a huge degen to get some fairly decent offers. But, I'm not getting insane offers, they won't even assign me a host, I've asked and was pretty much told I need to be betting larger...its not just about building up points. Of course, the whole comp game is in the house's favor, so I don't have any illusions that I'll not be a loser in the long run, but so far its been a pretty good deal.

Dude, this is a bad idea. I'm all for going balls out and saying *** it, but you gotta have some kind of safety net. What do you do if you run like shyt and get 2 outer-coolered for 6 buy-ins? plus, where do you plan on sleeping? sounds like you havent factored housing expenses into your plan. I've been to Vegas with 3-4k to my name and blowing it all many a time, but have had housing, food, transpo paid for before deciding to let the whole roll ride on black or red. Just think this is a recipe for disaster and you may find yourself homeless with no money and stuck in Vegas. Save up a roll of like 8-10k first, then go for it.
