Sunday, July 15th:
After an awesome 4 hours of sleep or so, I woke up and we started getting excited for our WET Republic day. Hoping for decent weather, we had a corner table lined up with a $1,500 food n' drink minimum so the game plan was to get there fairly early, eat some food and start the barrage of drinks and shots!
I already posted a couple pics above on that day once we got there and got settled in (about 12:30 or so). Unfortunately, the weather didn't really hold as well as we hoped and I think that contributed to the less-than-stellar crowd. The other contributor was probably the DJ they had booked for that day:
Rony Seikaly, first ever Miami Heat draft pick, now turned DJ! Even though I live near Miami, I sighed when I saw this. The normal warmup DJ was pretty decent and our crew made the best of the day by following our game plan and getting completely hammered along with splashing around in the pool.
When Seikaly finally came on, you could feel the energy dissipate, he was so terrible. I think he was up there for like 10 minutes and then mysteriously they pulled him and put another DJ in there. Turns out that WET even took him down from their website and put another DJ's name in his place for their event pics from that day! LOL.
I met this hot little Asian girl but she was hanging out with the group the knew the warmup DJ, she was a local. Some tattoos, really cute. I was talking to her at the bar and went against my usual rule and decided to buy her a drink. A little while later she was going back over to her friends and I told her to come by our table in a bit. She never did, ahh well c'est la vie.
We reached our table min and decided to cut it off, well at least the guy in our group running the table did. I was too drunk to care about such things. They closed WET early at 6pm (a big indicator of how crappy a day it was there overall) and we stumbled back up to our respective rooms. Part of the crew went down for the count but most of us got cleaned up and went to Craftsteak eventually for some dinner.
I started feeling rather horrible after eating a nice steak and not having alcohol for a number of hours, so the proper thing to do was start drinking again! A few of us started playing some blackjack and one by one the crew members started dropping off.
There were only five of us left standing well after midnight, 3 guys and 2 girls. We cabbed it over to the Encore and went by XS to see what was happening. At this point it was probably nearing 2am but we (the guys) still would have had to pay a $50 cover each to get into XS. Forgettt that!
One of the girls (the tallest blonde from my earlier pic) went in there to check it out while the rest of us decided to degen at the Blackjack table. The pit was right near the exit to XS so at least I had beaucoup eye candy to check out while playing! Soooo many hot girls it was awesome. Our dealers were nice and fun and the pit boss lady was cool. It took like 45mins to get the first order of drinks but after that they came quickly and often.
When we first sat at the table there were two younger Asian girls playing and it was a $15 table. I chatted them up a lil bit for kicks (they weren't that good) and they left about even a short while later. It was a $15 table but went to a $25, then a $50 then $100 while we were there. lol. We were grandfathered in for $15 so it didn't matter but was funny to see it anyways.
After pretty much all the people had vacated XS and it was about 4am, the floor was looking to close the pit so we packed it up and wandered off to the cage. The session was +$130 or so for me and we had many drinks and a great time.
While leaving the cage, I saw yet another cute Asian girl, younger with tattoos and fakies (this is why the Wynn/Encore are awesome lol). She went back to sit at a blackjack table where her friend was apparently still playing. I figured what the hell so I went and sat next to her and started talking to see what's up. She was friendly but, as my luck of the weekend kept showing, was leaving for the airport in 45mins with her friend to fly back to Toronto. Aye. They vanished a few mins later and our stalwart five headed back to the MGM to crash after 5am. On the way into the lobby, we saw one of the other guys headed out to catch an early flight back to Denver, said our goodbyes and went up to sleep.
Sayonara, Sunday.
