Hey everyone.

Me friends and I are heading to Vegas in August. We have been a few times, and booked 5 stars on hotwire. So far we have stayed at Venetian, Palazzo and the Wynn. Obviously thrilled with all of them.
We like to hit the pool during the day, and gamble drink and party all night. Obviously looking for girls too, so it helps when they are staying in the same hotel.

We booked this time on hotwire, the blind bid, and got Vdara. We were sort of dumbfounded, we were hoping for any of the above, or Bellagio or Aria.
I guess thats what we get for doing the blind bid for 5star.

Anyway, should we be concerned or think about trying to move?
I did some research and saw that there is no casino in Vdara, but its a close walk to Aria, so no issues there.
The pool looks tiny... anyone go there? I guess we can try and sneak in another pool.
Basically, are we idiots for staying at Vdara given that we want to drink, party, and try and pick up chicks at the pool?

I stayed there last summer and I liked it a lot. Also stayed in Aria and I would prefer Vdara anytime. I think I am correct when I say that Vdara guest can use the Aria pool, so if you dont like the small pool at Vdara, just go to Aria.


How much do you for a room? Around 100d/night?

Edit: its also really close to Bellagio, takes about the same time as to Aria, like a minute or two.

The pool is small and there wasn't much to see when I was there. It was on a Wednesday and Thursday though. I think the other post is correct in saying you can use the Aria pool also, but you'll have to check on this.

Vdara is pretty mellow. Just a bar and a couple of restaurants. Rooms are really nice. Once I found my way around, I was very happy with it.

Basically you should just center all your activities around Aria. It's only about 100 yards from Vdara to Aria. Walk left out the front door of Vdara and you're there. Easiest way to the strip is through Aria then through Monte Carlo. Aria casino is round and was kind of confusing to me. So to get to Monte Carlo, walk to Aria, hang a right inside, and stick to right hand wall of casino, walk past poker room and you get to main entrance. This is where you walk to Monte Carlo or hop on the tram to Bellagio or Crystals. Also nice little food court on the way in Monte Carlo for some cheap eats - Subway, Burrito shop, etc...

There is also an indoor walkway from Vdara to Bellagio. It is unmarked which is weird. When walking from front desk toward front doors, there will be a hallway to your left and that will take you to Bellagio. I would guess this is a 5 - 10 minute walk.

Regarding bidding 5*, if you just want Wynn, Encore, or Venetian, Palazzo, then bid priceline North strip 5*. Note this does NOT include the trump. Trump is in North Strip - Condo. Also if your initial bid is turned down, you have to wait 24 hours or you have to add another area to bid again immediately. Just stick with 5* and add the airport. There is no 5* in that area so you don't have to worry about getting anything there. Vdara is awesome if you want to take it easy and get away from all the slot machines and craziness. I liked it a lot.

If you want a lot of action and girls at the pool you should go somewhere else though, or just visit Aria those times.

Staying at Vdara now. Really nice chilled out place. Never stayed at Venetian or Palazzo, but would be really surprised if their rooms are better than the Vdara. Rooms are more like an apartment and not your typically standard hotel room. As already mentioned Aria's right there, location wise it's excellent. I wouldn't bother with the pool here if your trying to meet girls, it's not really a party place.

Just went over to aria and it turns out vdara guests cannot use aria pool unless vdara pool is closed. There are some girls at vdara, but def way better elsewhere....

How many rooms are you booking, I think Vdara only has single king size beds? Though you would have looked into that by now I'm sure

This is one drawback of using Hotwire/Priceline to book hotel rooms -- they guarantee that the room will sleep two people, but the arrangement of beds is totally up to the hotel. If the hotel doesn't have any rooms with two beds, or they're all occupied, or the check-in clerk doesn't feel like giving you one, you're totally out of luck. (Assuming of course that you don't want to share a bed.)

I like Vdara, but stay at Aria most of the time.
Just an FYI, because I don't have any idea or experience with hotwire, but I think MLife players can get a $79 rate, which is also the poker rate at aria.

The pool at Aria is great though. I was there the past few days and will be back this week.
Perfect weather, great scenery, and a great place to be overall. Enjoy.
