Probably going to spend 7 weeks (or more) in Vegas this summer dealing at the WSOP.

Are there any real cheap rental car companies out there? I was looking at Turo.

Uber is about $12-$16 in each direction but then I'm stuck without a car on days off or just to get around to the store, etc.

Keep in mind most big casinos are charging to park unless you have a certain players card status.

If you're only going to the Rio to deal it doesn't matter because they aren't charging.

I have had really good luck using Costco travel and picking up/dropping off in a off-strip location to avoid airport fees and lines. I use the Budget on Trop across from the Orleans, they will also pick you up and drop you off within about a 5 mile radius up to 3:30pm daily.

The Costco site makes it easy to compare rates with a few rental companies and you don't have to be a member to see pricing. Not sure if you can rent a car over a month but they have online chat to assist.

It gets really bad reviews. Have you used it before?

Fox's cars are usually high mileage and old but for some good savings are OK. I needed a one way rental after a flight got cancelled from Cali to Vegas and they were $40 (no additional drop off fee) while all the others were $100++.

Three others jumped on that deal with me so it was less than $20 each with gas. They gave us a Nissan Rouge which was perfect for 4 of us. It had about 70K miles on it but no problems with it.

If you uber to their lot off LVB I am guessing you should avoid the airport taxes and fees. They also pick up and drop off at the Rental Car Center.

Some cities aren't bad on airport taxes and fees. Las Vegas isn't one of them. Since they built the new rental car facility, they've really stuck it to anyone renting a car. For a long term rental, I think anything is better than the airport.

I've gotten by with Uber, Lyft and cabs my last few times there.

I played around w the Costco rates from late May to early July, looks like a Budget location off strip would run $26 per day (including taxes). Seems like a lot but if your round trip Uber is going to be that much, as long as you have some status to park on the strip at no charge you have a car the whole time for the same price.

The cars at this location have been in great shape, low miles and one of the few places I have not had to use wipes on the interior once I got in.

Yes, it wasn't bad. Pretty much as mentioned above. Higher mileage, but clean enough. The only complaint is having to take two shuttles from the airport. But if you're traveling any sort of distance while in Vegas (Red Rock, Sumerlin, Pahrump, etc), it's the cheapest option.

He should have free parking with his WSOP badge since he's essentially working for Caesars Entertainment.

I know local Nevada residents current parking free with local ID/DL at all Caesars Ent properties.

Costco site is awesome. I also use and recommend. See what rates are and compare to non Costco rates. If you save the $55 annual fee, then get the membership and you are freerolling the Costco membership for the year.

Uber to the non airport rental spots and save a ton on fees. Also, play around with the days as often it will be cheaper to rent 4 weekly rental instead of a monthly and you'll get a different car each week and the turn around time at a non-airport location is pretty quick.

You have to factor in the cost of gas into renting a car as well. On 30 miles a day or less, it will be about a tank of gas so not a deal breaker.

This will likely end by the end of the year if not sooner. I honestly don't know why MGM charges locals the same price as tourists. Even the RTC gives locals a discount on buses so why not the casinos with parking.

Thanks. I will wait until I get out there, Uber to my rental place and then get a car if I get one. I'll look into the Costco site and see how that compares to Turo.

Biking in 110-degree weather doesn't sound like fun BWSlim.

He's here for WSOP. Don't think he'll be here by time they charge even locals (CET)

He will have a WSOP Badge that should gain him access to any CET property that charges for parking.

I for one park free at MGM properties cause I work for them, and for now I scan my local ID for CET Properties

What car rates are we talking about at LAS that are so high? I use Costco and get pretty cheap stuff at the airport. For WSOP I have SUV 6/4- 6/11 for $201. Is that high?

I have fullsize 6/8 to 6/29 for $538.

All are at LAS and on budget or Avis. Have full size Alamo 2 weeks $400.

I have a mid size for part of my trip, Fri-Tues over the 4th for $108 off strip at Budget through Costco. The same car through Budget/Costco at the airport is $204. I spend a day or two on the strip before I get a car and just use it over the weekend when cab/Uber lines are long and don't want to wait in the heat.

I have wasted too much time at car rentals at the airport location. The Budget line during the summer is no joke-an hour wait is normal. Even with status at Hertz and Avis it is not worth the extra time and cost to deal with the airport.

We drop the car off a day or two before we leave and take their free shuttle back to the strip. Taking Uber to the airport is so much easier than filling the gas tank, dropping car at rental center, shuttle, etc. Saves at least an hour on your last day.

Watch out for the Uber surge pricing. If it gets over 1.5x - taxi is same or cheaper.

I've used Enterprise while staying on the Strip. They pick up and drop off everywhere. If you ask nicely they might drop off at the airport instead of taking you back to the hotel, especially if the airport is equidistant.

has anyone rented a car recently with skrill/neteller debit card? Terms and conditons usually say u need real credit card and no debit cards allowed but it worked for me a lot of times however last time did not work and that ended up being a huge hassle i want to avoid. also have a visa debit card from wells fargo now.
