I found out last Thursday that the company I work for is sending me to Las Vegas for a conference
. There are 2 of us from the company going, myself and our office manager, and she is bringing her fiancé. Hence the "solo" trip report, as they will go on their own adventures while I'm at the tables. We will be arriving in Vegas around 12:30 pm Vegas time on Tuesday February 21, and flying out early morning on Friday February 24. We are staying at the Flamingo. The conference is from 8-4 on Wednesday and Thursday. I plan to hit the tables as soon as we arrive on Tuesday, and after the conference on Wednesday and Thursday, possibly playing all night on Thursday knowing I can sleep on the plane ride home and then the car ride back to our town. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the trip report thread posted by TopGun in Va, and I figured I'd keep the trip report threads going. I'd like as much information as possible from you guys regarding the poker rooms and the daily tournaments. There is a WSOP Circuit Event going on at The Rio, but I do not plan on playing any of those events.
About Me: I am 38 years old and have been playing Texas Hold 'Em since August of 2005. I started out playing home games and soon ventured into casino poker at the poker rooms in Shreveport/Bossier City. I prefer cash games (1/2 & 1/3) but I do enjoy the occasional tournament. I consider myself to be a TAG player, and I'd say my biggest strength is recognizing when I'm beat and being able to get out of a hand (even with a monster) when I know I'm second best.
Plans for the trip:
- Tuesday: Buy in to the 1:00 pm Aria daily tournament (if there is a decent amount of entrants) and play a cash game afterward
- Wednesday: Conference lets out at 4:00 - cash game immediately after
- Thursday: Conference lets out at 4:00 - cash game immediately after
What poker rooms would you recommend?
Of the daily tournaments, which ones get the best turnout?
Any advice?
