I was at the Hard Rock Las Vegas a few years ago when I sat down at a $10 table and then noticed the guy in the last spot with a few thousand in black and purple ($500) chips. Maybe about $8k. He was drunk and friendly betting about $300 - $1k depending on how hot the shoe was running. We both went on a little heater - me running a couple hundred to about $800 and his $8k running up between $15k and - $25k. He was betting for the dealer just about every hand for luck $25-$100. The memorable thing was that when things were going really good he was winning with a black chip out there for the dealer and making her good money. The pit boss was watching us (him really) closely and during one run of $2k bets he put a $500 chip out for the dealer. She took it to make change for him and he said to leave it and play it for her. The pit boss waived him off and said $100 max betting for the dealer. It was and entertaining and profitable hour for the three of us.

Split two napkins maybe what about 10s? Sounds crazy but I believe it's neutral EV long term and if you want to degen why not.

ah yes my mistake - NEVER SPLIT 10s! unless you truly know how to count and the deck is whatever is required (+6 or something i think) and you are very sure it won't tip off the pit boss or the eyes in the sky.

I'll contribute two; I'm a VP degen (see my other thread in LVL), but I've degened some blackjack in my time as well...

Run 1-
I'm playing at a local Indian casino with so-so rules. I get into a 1k hole early betting 25-50 a hand but am up several K for the week from earlier sessions so I decide to increase my bet to "get it back". I switch to 100$ min bet and go on a decent run. As I start to get more and more black, I just let the chips pile messily in front of me. It "works", and the chips keep coming-

Blurry pic due to trying to subtly take a pic from my phone. There's about 6k there, I think a 500$ chip was buried in there somewhere. Messy piles can contain a surprising number of chips LOL.

I ended up cashing out about 7k, so a 5k winner. Don't remember any specific hands except one- 200$ bet and I get two 9s against a dealer 4. Split, get another 9, resplit. 2 + 9 on the first hand, double and get trash. 9 on the second hand- resplit for the last allowed time. 2 on the second hand- double and get trash. Stiff on the third hand- stand. Stiff on the 4th hand- stand.

I have 1200$ out now from an initial 200$ bet and am sweating bullets with 4 stiffs. Dealer turns a FIVE for 9. OH FUDSFUSDFDSF. 4 = 13. A =14, I'm sweating every card like my life depends on it. A = 15 WTF palpitations. 7 for the 22 BUST HOOOOO!!!!! That was fun.

Run 2-
Not the biggest run either but still the most memorable. I'm at the Bellagio, this is in my poker playing days and I'm a total nit when it comes to -EV games. I've carefully built my roll playing 20/40 and 40/80 limit, and I can lose several k pots without issue, but losing 5$ at -EV makes me mad haha. Anyways, we have non-gambling friends in town so I don't get to play much poker- the one session I can squeeze in I head to the Bellagio. Best game they had was 10/20 NL, not my best game but hey this was early 2000's and the games were soft!

I brought 5k with me and buy in for 2k. I lose the whole buy in with aces/getting coolered. Reload for 2k. Only play one other pot, aces, AGAIN get coolered. FASDFIJSDIF. I am on super monkey tilt but at least have the good sense to get up from the table.

My friends and wife are shopping or whatever, I still have time to kill and I know it's unlikely I'll make a recovery at poker. I decide to "kill time" playing green chip BJ, buy in for 500$ and basically just bet 25$ a hand. I lose that first 500$ super fast and now am COMPLETELY on tilt. Pull out the last 500$, lose the first 300$ and decide to just bet black for the last two hands. Lose the first, down to my last 100$. Push it into the center...

Win. Double to 200$. Win. Go to 300$- BJ. Go to 400$- win. 500$- win. 600$- BJ. 700$- win. 800$- win. 900$- win. 1000$- win! 1100$... lose.

The most LOL part was my friends and wife got to witness it! They came up to the table right as I bet the first (losing) 100$ bet- my friends told me later they were amazed at me betting 100/hand, and thought I was UP. Luckily, my wife knew better and basically told them to keep their mouths shut when they came up, bc she knew if I was betting black it was bc I was A) on monkey tilt and B) if I only had a few chips in front of me, I was stuck big time.

So they got to witness that amazing run, and after I lost the 1100 I decide to color up. Tip the dealer, walk with them to the cage. They're amazed and ask, "how much did you win????". Quick mental math, and my answer, "Oh, a few hundred bucks". Their jaws dropped and my wife said, "you see? I TOLD you he was getting buried!". Ahh, life of a degen.

I know all to well the feeling of going on tilt at a blackjack table -- great runs though
