I just got back from my sixth trip to Las Vegas, and I have yet to go on a run at blackjack. Furthermore, I've never even seen someone go on a run. This past trip I lost 40 hands more than I won in a three hour time period...each corona cost me around 100 dollars.

So I'd like to hear about some runs you guys have went on or heard about...I need some hope for my next trip...

Edit-- I'm not sure if this is the right forum...but I figure people who go to Las Vegas often read the Las Vegas forum

Was checking out of the Hard Rock one morning in the VIP room and the guy in front of me checking out was struggling to carry a good many bundles of cash, basically dropping and juggling them before they gave him a bag to put them in. I asked the girl there after he left how much and how'd he win it, she said $150k playing blackjack, and he was no whale.

Ha that's pretty awesome. I wonder how high his bets got up to...and I wonder even more how he got himself to leave the table. I mean if he didn't leave at +100k, I wouldn't think he'd leave at +150k.

6 years ago this Feb, I ran a hundo buy in at BJ up to $15.5K in 3h 56min! 6 deck shoe, counting and a little banged up the whole time.

A little backstory, at the time I was just purely gambling for a living. I had made my gf almost 2k that week that I let her keep.

So we went to just have drinks at the bar. I brought exactly $100 with me for the drinks and cause I was gonna try not to gamble and just spend time with her. I pay the bill of like seventy something dollars and we get ready to leave. She goes let's go play, I tell her no, she says use this hundo that she takes out of the 2k I let her keep. After telling her no about 3 times I say **** it, ill go play and lose it so I can go back to the house and stick it in her.

After bout 15mins I have $700. She says let's go, I say no and keep playing. Next thing you know I'm rockin and rollin. There's 3 suits watching me, and one keeps telling me with my luck I should go play megabucks. I tell him no, I'm good, I'm takin you guys for $500 a hand here lol! At one point I was playing 2 hands of $500 each. I put 1k on 1 hand twice, first hand of 1k I double and push. 2nd hand I have an ace and 4, I double for another 1k and pull a 4. Dealer has a 5 up. He has an ace under. First card out he gets a jack of diamonds. I tell him come on break bro, he proceeds to pull a 5 of hearts!

After that hand I keep playing $500 a hand and at my high point I'm at exactly $15.5k. Now they're changin the dealer every few hands cause every time a new dealer comes in they burn a card.

During the shuffle I'm on the phone with my friend back in NY and he's screamin at me to get up and cash out. I proceed to lose 7 hands, pick up my 12k left and head to the cashier. I give my gf $2500 to cash in at one window and I take the $9500 to another. They give me a huge hassle about the over 10k structuring, hand me a card with info about it and ask for my ID. I tell them they don't need my ID, just give me my cash. After a little back and forth I go to the window my gf is at, take the 5 pink/purple chips put them in my pocket and then the lady gives me my $9500. I went back 2days later with the rest and was in and out in 5mins with the rest. A few days later my gf thinks she's entitled to half of my winnings. Even her mom tells her to STFU, that she doesn't deserve anything. After having an argument about it I wind up taking 5k and throwing it right in her greedy whore face and tell her to ****ing choke on it and die and I never talked to her again.

I'm still pissed off that I gave her the 5k, but always smile when I tell about that run and scowl when I think about the 5k I blew by throwing it in her face.

my gaming prof. told us a story on Wednesday about a maniac who lost 990k cash at MGM playing BJ. his host gave him a meager rebate, 20k in 1k promo chips, and the guy managed to run the 20k back over a million. oops.

King- That's an awesome story. How much were you betting per/hand when you only had b/w 100 and 500 dollars?

Augie- That type of story goes along with what I kept thinking. Progression to the mean er some such logic. I kept thinking, well I may as well re-buy, I'm running way worse than I should be...but I figured that's how casinos get rich and decided to just play poker. Also, the sample size of hands is probably way too small for that to make any sense.

My personal best: $5 into $2500 at Bellagio.

Biggest bet ended up being 200 on which I had to double down and won. Happened during my first trip here, and it was so much fun its definitely in my top 5 Vegas moments.

Really fun BJ run at Golden Gate October 23, 2009....bought in at a $5 table with friends for $500. 6 of us at table, everyone else playing nickels, I varied bets between $5 and $200, all on one spot, every time I'd win a few I'd drop down to $5 and lose. Then I'd bet $100, get a double down and win. Worst part, it was a CSM.

hold on I think I have the biggest hand from Golden Gate on a youtube:

Not epic in terms of money, but:

(foreword) Was there for the week of new year's with one friend (his first trip; my 7th). We were planning on going to Fremont the first night and stop at Stratosphere on the way back for some rides. We get there around 6. Go to Binions. Show him the hall of fame and WSOP champions. He goes to get his picture with the $1M, and the lady hands him a coupon for a $10 match play. I take one as well and we both sign up for the player's club. We then spend about 20 minutes figuring out where to play it. Definately wanted to go to one of the hot cowgirl dealing games. Watched blackjack switch for a while, but would have had to bet $20 on each hand ($10 on one with the match, and the "same" $20 on the other), so we walked back to the first 3-4 tables when you walk in and sit down. This is basically my first time really sitting down at a Blackjack table; usually just play poker...

We each pull out $100. Match play the first hand. Lose. We keep playing. This was right before 7pm. 7:00, new dealer. Melissa. Sometime within the first hour, I lost my initial $100, but we had been getting drinks and he was up, so I bought in another $100. Less than 15 minutes later I'm back even, with $200 on the table. Then he loses his first $100 and does the same. Including the getting back up to even quickly. Now, I always thought dealers changed very often. Melissa dealt (I want to say) 80 minutes and then had a 20 minute break. Rinse, repeat. After a couple hours, both up a little, my friend was in the bathroom and Melissa explained to me she worked 7-3. My friend came back and I told him weren't leaving until 3. Right around 12 he was up to about $650 and I was up to about $450. This ended up being about the peak for both of us; if only she got off at 12.

We ended up playing to just before 3. He was funny because every time he got up a decent amount over another $100, he'd color it up, but then when he'd drop down he'd get change again. We were betting between $10 and about $50/hand. The dealers stack the tips behind the card return until they get to $25 and just drop a green chip into their tip box. Two times (very close to each other) I noticed her do this and when she started a new stack with the next tip I said to her, let's see how quick we can get to the drop! And within about 6-7 hands each time I alone got it up there, just tipping for the dealer on the side and letting that ride/giving her extra when it won (not really supposed to let that ride; she's supposed to take it, but let it stay). During the 8 hours, we spent a lot of the time as the only two at the table. Some time with 1-2 others, a little with 3, and I don't think ever with 4 others. No one else stayed more than about a half hour. It was our table. There were a couple times when she was hardly even dealing too. She also deals (?) craps and was explaining that game to us. We talked a little about what to do on new year's. It was just a great time. And the light show that we never fully watched kept going off every hour to remind us how much time was passing by.

My friend stopped when he was at +$100 around 2:30. He had been coming down and wanted to leave with a profit. I had been coming down to0, but still up, I kept playing. I got down to even ($200 on the table), but it was about 2:45 and I wanted to play out her shift. It was probably 5-7 hands. Nothing. Doubling her 6, she hit 21. Lost with 20. I even pushed a blackjack with her one hand. I stopped at $100 (-$100 for the night). We each got a picture with Melissa. So all in all, we each played about 8 hours. Me down $100, him up $100. We each got $23 in comps on our card. Also went through 5 cocktail waitresses. We calculated that it had to be at least 25 jack and cokes that we each had. Oh! And the (hot) dancer on the stripper pole every half hour! In the five nights we were there, we never made it to the Statosphere. Except the second night, but not until 2ish, rides were closed, and we each ended up losing $100 in blackjack in about 15 minutes.

(epilogue) I really wanted to write a TR about that trip, but never got around to it. Now I want to again, but won't hijack. Maybe I'll get around to it one day soon. Was a great poker trip. Blackjack, not so much. Other than our run with Melissa. Would have married that one no questions asked. (That is kind of a joke we had; also true.)

I started betting 20 a hand. I usually do a progression betting system once I start winning, between 100 and 500 im usually betting $25-$75 a hand.

Supposedly happened at TI. The homeless guy was on a heater for about a week. The story goes that after he went busto Steve Wynn bought his story or something like that.

Hahaha nice! Love the "Wooh Baby" after she breaks.
Also like that the rack was almost empty of $25's!

Golden Gate is funny, I don't think i've ever lost at that place!

Last time I was there me and my friend got tossed out. The dealer was shuffling and I was on the phone, the BJ table is like 4 feet from the bathroom door and wall, the pit boss told me I couldnt talk on my phone when I was at the table, I asked him if I had to go into the bathroom to talk on my phone, he got pissed and said some things, I cursed him out, told him he was a dirty hack loser in a $40 suit that cant get a job at a real casino and thats why he's stuck at GG makin $80 a shift, then security threw us out.
I don't think i've ever laughed harder in my life at his reaction!

one time I sat down with $5 and lost it on the first hand. true story.

seriously though, I was in veags for my sister's wedding. my sister and her future husband brought like 1500 or so for vegas and honeymoon (mexico) spending money. so the night before the wedding, my future bro in law took all the cash they had and proceeded to play 25 bj. he was up and down for pretty much the whole night until we got really ****ed up. he started betting 50 and 100 per hand and next thing you know he lost it all except one 5 chip. he was seriously ****ting his pants because my sister was going to ****ing kill him. he then went on the sickest bj run I have personally seen. it was 5 am and he ran that 5 chip up to 2500 in about an hour. we were going crazy. we stayed up several more hours drinking and celebrating the monumental comeback. good times.

Hey man... always a fan of your Trip Reports and whatnot. What's up with cameras/video in casinos. Last time I was there I was ****hammered playing craps at the Riviera and my buddy and I had convinced these two chicks we were scouts for Fox and wanted to get some video of them dancing... they got to it but about 5 seconds in security jammed me saying no pictures/video in the casino. Yet they apparently let you guys shoot lots of clips at slots and even at table games. Slots I see... table games?

What's the secret to not getting called out for it (other than not being a jackass and tipping well)?

My friend started with 300 one night at Foxwoods. Approximately 30 minutes later, he had taken every large denomination chip out of the dealer's tray.

What's the most he was betting/hand? I think I gotta get more aggro with my bets. I end up betting b/w 10 and 25 per hand, and nothing good ever comes from that. It seems like you can't get a crazy run unless you bet crazy (obviously most of the time you'll lose quickly, but that's not what this thread is about).

Were you under the impression that people who go on streaks win 100 hands in a row at their initial betting level?

This one goes back to my poor college days, it wouldn't really register dollar-wise at this point. Was down about $600 on my trip, which was an epic sum. This would have been a scrape the ashtray for change so I can get fries at the Burger King in Barstow drive back, followed by months of wallowing in it. Was planning on leaving town in an hour or so. I had $100 left and took it to a $25 table at Flamingo. Planned on playing 4 hands and either losing it or at least make a dent in the debt. Left the table with $1600 about twenty minutes later, and got the hell out of town.

Yes, I thought people go on streaks where they win 50 hands more than they lose in a time period.
