Poker Room Rates & Play Requirements

I have a few general questions about poker room rates and how the casinos apply the credits.

When a casino has daily poker play requirements for a special hotel room rate, do you have to meet the average play requirement for each day in order to secure any discount at all, or can you qualify for a discount on a day-by-day basis?

For example, let's say you book a room at The Venetian, which offers a discounted room rate for 6 hours of poker room play. Do I need to play an average of 6 hrs/day in order to get any discount, or can I still obtain the discounted rate for each day that I do meet the minimum play requirements?

Finally, is there a general rule in this regard, or does each property differ?

I've never tried to book a poker room rate when I visit Vegas because I like to try playing in different rooms. However, both Aria and Venetian look like they have some nice discounted rates. I'm thinking of trying to take advantage of them if I can choose to forego the discount on any given day to play somewhere else if I like. If doing so means that I would have to give up any discount for the entire trip, then I would probably not try this option.

Thanks for the help.

some places make you play 6/hr per day and some allow you to play an average of 6/hrs per day, meaning you could not play there one day and then play 12/hrs the next day. many also allow daily tournament entries to count as the 6 hours. imo, aria has the best poker rate/set up

Let's say I book at the Aria. The standard room rate is $250/day; the poker room rate is $100/day, with a daily play requirement of 5 hours.

Assume that I stay for 4 days, but only play in Aria's poker room on two of those days for a total of 10 hours.

Since I failed to meet the daily play requirements for every day of my stay, will I lose the right to any discount at all (meaning the cost of my stay will be $1000=$250x4)?

Or will I still get the discounted rate for the two days that I met the play requirements (meaning that the cost of my stay will be $700=($100x2) + ($250x2))?

At the Venetian that would be the case, you'd get 2 nights discounted and 2 nights normal (at 12 hrs, since it's 6 hrs/day there). You get 1 night at the poker rate for every 6 hours played - it doesn't matter if you covered your whole stay or not. I can't speak for any other property though.

edit: To add, at Venetian, it doesn't matter how your total hours were broken down - 3 hrs each of 4 days, or 12 hrs all on 1 day - you'd get 2 nights discounted either way.

Pretty sure that's true for Aria too, but I'd recommend asking the Aria rep over in the B&M forum.

Just call up the Aria poker room and ask for Kathleen, she was very informative/helpful for me in that regard

Re: Poker Room Rates & Play Requirements

I booked through the poker room at Bellagio in March for 4 nights. Allvegas listed a 6 hours a day requirement, but the floor told me I only needed to play 6 hours total. I had probably played 12 hours or so when I checked out and got the discount for all the nights.

Re: Poker Room Rates & Play Requirements

The time requirement is per room. If you have a traveling companion and each of you play 3 hours, that satisfies the 6 hour requirement for that day.

Re: Poker Room Rates & Play Requirements

Hello Everyone,

Our Room Rate Requirements are 5 hours of cash play a day or a daily or nightly tournament receipt. This is all added up per the room, not the player.

Example: 3 people are staying in a room. 1 person plays 2 hours cash for the day and another person plays 3 hours cash for the day. The room is good for the rate that day. Another example: 1 person in the room plays a daily or nightly tournament. The room is good for the day.

I hope this clears up some of the confusion. If you have any other questions you may call Kat at 702-590-7232.

Thanks,

Adam

The casino rate does depend on play. That's why it's called the casino rate.
