I wonder what it says about me when he hits something, I'm holding his money, he says "tip them 100" and I only give them 40?

The expected value from your dad's perspective seems to be that he's currying the amount of favor he desires with the employees so it seems like the EV is about break even all things considered Ongoing video poker "TR", how long will this last?

Yeah, but you leave the EV part of you at home, otherwise you wouldn't even be playing VP.

Just wanted to post up saying that thanks to this thread, I walked away up 600 bucks at Walking Dead slots in June. And I just received an invite to a slots tourney (lol) with 4 comped nights in a suite at the V. Thanks, Leon!

Nice. Saw your comp thread too- milk 'em for all they're worth. No chance they retro-charge you for lack of play.

If they ask you to put down a credit card for room charges, say no thanks. Then they won't have any way of charging you. And beware the resort fee. Some places charge them even on free rooms.

I don't know if you can get a room these days without putting down a card for incidentals. They "ask" but I don't think it's an option.

I've always been able to get away without it. They just won't let you charge anything to the room. They do, however, want a card when booking, to charge the first night if you cancel too late.

I was getting my Keno degen on at the plaza and there was a lot of commotion about a lady who was dealt a Royal on TDB Ultimate X

Spoiler:
On NICKELS!

I still think that was a $1500 handpay. She was almost in tears with happiness. That was a pretty cool sight. Sorry for no pics.

This last update was a great read. It's nice when the gambling gods seem to be in your favor for a change.

I was in Vegas the past few days, stayed at the Orleans and did the Ultimate X tournament. You get one entry for 100 points earned on Friday and a second entry for earning 400 more points. You get 12 minutes to play 6000 credits (200 hands on triple play) so you have to play quickly. The machines are set for tournament mode, so they deal winners almost every hand, and you hope to hit the draws when the multipliers are high. I got 15000+ in my first session and 18000+ in my second session, but there must be close to 1000 individual sessions played in total.

Top score when all was said and done was over 50000, and top 100 was about 21000, so I didn't earn any free play. I know the winner got $1000 in free play and I think 2-20 got $50 in play and 21-100 got $20 in play.

How do they schedule your play? Do you just start playing when you make the hundred points?

Once you get 100 points you swipe your card at the kiosks and it prints an entry ticket. You go to the tournament area (40 machines I think) and turn in your entry ticket, they give you a PIN to enter at any open machine and you start playing. So people are constantly starting and finishing over the six hours.

Looks like this is over at the end of August, so I won't get to try it.

Nice hit

While playing a 98.4% game online will deplete your roll pretty fast, more importantly the EV cost of holding Jd Qd as opposed to Th Tc when playing 10 lines at quarter level is around $4.66.

It's fun to hit the big hands, but a bit more patience (young grasshopper) may actually increase your chances of ever seeing them.

I'm sure there's other software out there but an app that I like is WinPokerHD. It has most of the standard games setup and then you can also add your own pay schedules to see the overall payback % of a game. You can also play up to 100 lines, set the denomination you would like, set the amount you buy in for, etc. and the game has a training mode where it will warn you when you make an improper play.

I used to play full play deuces wild about 25 years ago and I used a similar program to learn how to play mathematically correct. I practice every now and then and can still play deuces wild at 99.99% correct. 25 years ago you could earn 2-3% in comps but nowadays you are lucky to get 0.25% in comps on a full pay machine.

Is this the promotion you guys are talking about ?

http://www.orleanscasino.com/promoti...ble-your-royal

What are the odds on the double your royal? I am guessing it's like pretty rare to get the full double prize? Is it a draw ?

I hit a royal a few months ago on a dime machine. It would've been nice to get an extra four hundred bucks.

I was in Wyoming for the eclipse. On the way home the first leg of my flight was DEN-LAS. I had about two hours, just enough time for Popeye's chicken and some $.25 single line TDB VP. I put in $40, played max credits ($1.25/hand) and after bleeding away $18 I hit quad fours (but no kicker!) for 400 credits/$100. Cashed out immediately and left Las Vegas a winner!
