BTW I should get a pass, since I managed not to say "Degrees Kelvin."

Day 3-4 was well worth the wait, Dr. Looking forward to the next installment.

I just noticed that I typo'd the 99 guy's raise. He made it 600 straight not 500. I know nobody cares but...um, ya.

Re: Old fat guy returns to Vegas...a TR - 6/14-6/24
If I did the conversion correctly, and I had to look it up, so I am not nerdy, nor a nit, 1700 kelvin => ~2600 fahrenheit .
If the temperature in the car was ~120 to ~130 degrees fahrenheit, given it is ~100 degrees in LV, it converts to ~322 to ~328 kelvin.
I am not looking to prove anything here, it just seemed that the 1700 kelvin estimation, after the 170 kelvin = -153.4 post, had to be way high {sorry 'Doc'}

Re: Old fat guy returns to Vegas...a TR - 6/14-6/24
I am the one that is dense about it being a joke! I didn't know much about kelvin conversion anyway, so the is on me!
I don't think 'you are a chump', nor was it so bad that you left after losing the 80:20.
You must do what you got to do, to preserve your sanity and your bankroll.
While reading the post, I was hoping you were going to exit your car and return to the game, after all, how often does a $2/$5 game run at the Golden Nugget?

I admire the discipline required to walk away from that 2/5 game---obviously it is the right decision. Thanks for the TR Big T.

Re: Old fat guy returns to Vegas...a TR - 6/14-6/24
Days 5
Day 5 started out with Carol picking me up at Bally's and taking me to lunch at Firefly's, off the strip. This is a fantastic tapas joint...short money, great food, great service. This place is now on The List for sure.
When we left, we went back to Bally's where I sat for some more 1/2. I can't explain why I had yet to move up to my now standard 2/5 games...I had the roll and the comfort level, but I, well...just didn't. I wasn't quite feeling 100% on top of my game the first few days, then I sat in the best game ever only to lose $1000 in 12 minutes. Maybe these factors combined to send me skulking back to 1/2 for a while? Could be.
In any case, the game was fine, and within 2 hours I'd put my $300 on about $1150. I only played one marginally interesting hand during this session. I opened UTG+1 for $18 with AcAs, and got called in three spots, including the sb. The flop came Ah 9h 4s. I was first to act, and decided to lead out for $40. I figured that the only call I'm getting is going to be someone with a big heart in their hand, as the average rec 1/2 player is 100% certain that anyone betting a monotone board has the flush already...unless of course, the player has one big heart, in which case they can't ever fold to any semi-reasonable bet. I got one call, who double-checked that what I was pretty sure was the Kh was still there before he called.
The turn brought the unlikely Ad. I led out again, this time for $50, and got the call. The river, sadly for me, was the brick-ish 3c. I decided to check and rep that I had been barreling and was now giving up, but I just got the ol' "I missed" check-back. I flipped over my quads, and he showed the Qh, saying that he sure was glad he didn't make his hearts. I got an extra $50 from Bally's for the high hand thingy (will be back to $100 starting 8/1) and cashed out a while later a $750 winner, or $800 including the bonus.
During this mostly unremarkable session I was fortunate to sit next to Steve from Tampa (by way of PA). He's a young married guy w. a baby on the way, out in Vegas to play some tournaments including two bracelet events. He was wholly focused on that, and said he only plays cash to pass the time and keep his mind occupied. He was in town by himself as I was, so we ended up palling around a fair amount during the week...very cool cat, and a very solid player. I greatly enjoyed our meal time hand deconstructions and debriefs, and I hope he did too.
At some point I mentioned that I'd so far shied away from 2/5. He responded by saying that he loves to play at the Venetian, so now was as good a time as any to get over there and get to work. Before we left we went to visit Carol and her friend Allison at the Pai Gow tables. We were just in time to see Allison make a royal with about $150 in play. I don't know the game enough to remember exactly what and where her bets were, but I know that the dealer chopped out about $1300 for her. Nice work if you can get it.
With Carol promising to join us soon (soon for Carol is secret code for 'maybe tomorrow') we walked to the garage, jumped into the mighty Altima, and jetted to the V. Yes, I drive around the strip. Sue me.
We had dinner at Noodle Asia, which, not to put too fine a point on it, sucked, then got on the lists for 1/2 (Steve) and 2/5 (me). Noodle Asia has consistently been on my Top 5 favorite reasonably priced places to eat on the strip. I love the hot and sour soup, and the chicken stir-fry noodles (extra spicy, natch) are about perfect. Or, were about perfect anyway. There has been a remodel there, and I don't know if the staff is changed, or the menu, or what, but the food sucked. I am not exaggerating when I say that Panda Express is considerably better than anything we had. This was a trend that would continue later in the week.
The 2/5 table I was at was pretty tough, and it took me about 20 hands to decide that I needed to get a table change. There were a couple of spots at the table though (don't say it) so I was happy to take hands while I waited. I did manage a $400 profit at this table, almost entirely on the backs of two flopped flushes within 45 minutes. I never did get the table change, but on the second flush hand I raised in mp pre to $30 with 10h Jh and got called in two places, including Megastack Magoo in the 8 seat. Mr. Mega paid me two streets of value when the flop came Q high hearts, but released on the slightly over-sized river bet asking if I had a set, or a straight. Close...
With the table change not forthcoming, and the game not improving, plus Steve was suffering a case of the run-bads, we decided to get out of there. Steve ended up calling it a night pretty early, and I should have followed his example. I sat at the 1/2 game, and gave away half of the $400 I'd scratched out at the V before I finally threw in the towel and went to bed.
Coming up...Rio daily 235, Steve's bracelet event, and "both of us? Really?"

Thanks for that. I left out the part where I paced around the Nugget trying to convince myself that it was a good idea to reload lol.
