Re: Off Strip Dining / Hidden Gems

You must check out Four Kegs Sports Pub. This place was featured on the TV show Diners, Drive ins and Dives because of there Stromboli. This is the best resturant in Vegas if you are looking for Stromboli and pizza. Same location since 1977! I eat here at least once a week.

I have ate at almost every well known Sushi restaurant in Vegas. Yama Sushi is by far the best in town.

Yama sushi is garbage. Please list the restaurants you think it's better than.

Also, these are all off-strip restaurants.

I don't need too stuffy, but a little stuffier than Batista's would be good. Thanks in advance.

Meh, how has my list changed drastically? Firefly is still laughable when compared to Jaleo, but it's perfectly fine for cheap, mediocre tapas.

I came in here looking for recommendations for something different, but it's the same stuff you guys mention in every dining thread.

How about some hole-in-the-wall with great prices, diverse menu, character, good service and open super late? That's a hidden gem.
I second this :-(

Yama stinks? wow, is that why it takes an hour to get a seat there every night after 6:00. Everyone has the right to an opinion. I guess when you have as many customers as Yama does you can not make every one of them happy no matter how good the food is.

RA - sucks!
Sushi Roku - Its ok
Sushisamba - over priced, SUCKS!
KOI - It was good but not that good
Extreme Sushi - absolutely the worst in town! horrible
Sushi Factory - Terrible
Sushi 21 - This was ok, they had some good specialty rolls
Okada - horrible rip off! I complained about my food here
Nobu - This place was good but really pricey for what you get

I am sure I am forgetting a few. Anyone that thinks Yama is garbage does not understand what it takes to make good sushi. I have been eating Sushi all over the country for over 20 years, it is my favorite food. Argue if you want but you are wrong..

Is there a reason your list doesn't include a review of Yard House's sushi?

you must not be japanese...

unfortunate that nobody else appreciates the irony of you bashing him for suggesting a chain restaurant and then suggesting archi's thai in the same post.

Applebees runs a wait, and buffets all over town take an hour to get into. Popularity of a place is not always a good indicator of quality.

i dont remember what i said exactly and i'm too lazy to look back. I'm pretty sure my emphasis was that he suggested sushi from yard house and there are like ~40 Yard House locations all across the US.

Archi's has 3 that are all in Vegas. Only by weak definition are they both "chains."

I consider one to be more of a local "gem" and the other to be a corporate brew house.

You've covered all of the terrible restaurants and one of the good ones. Well done.

Most of those are better than Yama anyways, but Goyemon, Sushi Fever, Naked Fish, Sen of Japan, Blue Ribbon, Sushi Mon, Kabuto, and even Oyshi are all better. Sad that in 20 years you haven't developed any understanding of good food.

"Overpriced" is such a stupid relative term. Sure, Nobu is more expensive than your $25 all you can eat place, but the service is light years ahead and the quality of the fish and preparation is better. That's like saying Joel Robuchon is overpriced compared to Mimi's Cafe. Or that SW Steakhouse is overpriced compared to Outback.

But 20 years, you're the expert....
