THE (non)OFFICIAL <6-12 month rental thread

well...after great...i guess we'll call it inspiration...from reading all the magnificent "moving to las vegas to grind 1/2 and/or 2/5 and need some place to stay" threads I have decided to create this Official (non-official) thread to contain all the cluster**** of threads about this...took a bit of a cue from Mr. JayLV and thought this would be a good move for the forum and for people who frequent the forum's sanity!

SO, I think I got a good start and got the ball rolling to this thread...if you have any questions, read this OP, then try a search...and if that fails ask it here and hopefully it'll get answered and this thread will gain life to it...and maybe if it works out, a mod can add links to this OP to make it a better "be-all" of a thread!

I hope these search links work long term and aren't single use type things...so here, for you people (yea i said it, YOU PEOPLE) who are afraid of the search feature!

Search: Rentals (Las Vegas Lifestyle Forum)
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/se...rchid=25701616

Search: Apartments (Las Vegas Lifestyle Forum)
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/se...rchid=25701642

Search: Short Term Lease (Las Vegas Lifestyle Forum)
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/se...rchid=25701656

Some places I can remember off the top of my head right now

Higher end (considering it is on Flamingo and Koval) gated community, comparable to strip locales and EASY walking distance to Ballys, Bellagio...and other hotels near flamingo and LV Blvd. Prolly looking at paying $1300 and up depending on what you want.
http://www.meridianluxurycondos.com/

More Budget oriented furnished, weekly residence. think these are like $200ish a week or somewhere around there if i remember prior discussions correctly
http://holidayroyale.com/

So hopefully its a good thing I had nothing to do right now except create this thread and watch the red sox game and this turns out to be a good resource for people.

tl;dr
use the search function

Probably a good idea to contain all those treads here.

FYI, all 3 of your search links came back as "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.

I thought it was a good idea, and I was tired of seeing a new thread every week...not as often post WSOP as pre WSOP but they still pop up...

that sucks...i tried the links in separate windows while i was making the thread and it worked, BUT i did think that searches were single use type things and yea I guess they are...well the terms above the links are what the searches were for and they came up with pretty solid results...it does suck it can't be a one stop shop type thing tho...any suggestions from MODS or anyone with more experience on forums?

NS why, I think its near some clubs or something, but this place has a reputation for being a bit of a gay hangout.

The link you provide here is for Jenn Martin Realty, who is one of the larger legit realtors that will still deal with the meridian. However, she has gotten some less than stellar reviews in this forum, so buyer beware.

Another possibility is Jason Trindade, (google king of condos las vegas)... I am not 100% sure he still deals with the meridian, but if not he can probably help you out with other mid rises or high rises near the strip.

Universal realty has quite a few listings at the meridian as well. Google universal realty las vegas.

1300/month is lowfor the meridian for a short term, furnished place.... count on like 1600-1800.

You have to be really careful with the meridian, because there are a lot of shady characters renting units there that they either dont own or that they do own but are in foreclosure.

I dont know the names their companies go by any more (if mooremoney is still raquetballing with frank F. he would probably be worth asking) but avoid Eric Lynn and Constantino Kouris like the plague. They will screw you over 100%

LOL! holiday royale is by two gay clubs...i live down the street from them, but not as close as the holiday royale is, so i really wouldn't know if that place is stricken with the ghey!jk...but beside that I figure it would be a decent option for budget oriented people...

the link was the first one that popped up when i googled "meridian las vegas" and I really don't know anything about any LV realtors...THANKS a lot for improving the thread with your knowledge on it tho, it seems helpful...how can someone go about investigating the shady-ness you mentioned to avoid a bad situation at meridian?

its a resource...

to be honest tho, i don't really like that link because I don't think its the best for this thread because I thought the furnished units were overpriced: 1 br $1600 when you can prolly get something on the strip for that price or less, i found a 1br at panorama for $1300 on a quick search...

also none of the locations were actually on the strip, which i didn't think was the best considering the prices i saw on the first few pages...then the unfurnished stuff was like houses and labeled long term...just from my impression that website seems like it'll suit a long term renter better or maybe someone not looking to be on the strip all the time...just my .02 tho! still a good link

For a furnished unit, 1300/month is incredibly cheap for PT. I would say running up on 2k/month is typical for a furnished unit, esp short term.

If youre seeing PT advertised for 1300, i would say 99% sure if you call in youre going to get bait and switched either for a more expensive PT unit or something for 1300 in one of the north-end highrises (allure, soho, etc)

and i think i have read of that kinda nonsense in this forum and other apartment searching resources about the ol' bait 'n' switch that they like to do here in Vegas...i wonder if it happens everywhere or more so in vegas?

Re: THE (non)OFFICIAL <6-12 month rental thread

SO...hoping to get some help for myself...

my lease is up this month and Im wondering if anyone has any recommendations for apartments for me...I live close to the strip, in not a great apartment and don't pay much but I like the location...ANYWAY...Im looking for something <$800 (and potentially as cheap as can be) that has non-carpeted floors, something like tile, wood, or that flooring that looks like wood...and is in a better area of town, like non N Las Vegas, boulder highway area and those "shadier" type places....

so any recommendations from personal experience or friends apartments that meets my broad criteria? lease length is no issue, i just hate carpet because it gets sooo dirty so quickly with the dirty, oily asphalt/streets in LV!

thanks for any tips/insight...

When I watch the Live @ the Bike poker shows, they keep saying LA has more juicy games than Vegas? I guess they are saying you can bounce around different casinos and find a soft game with tourists thats the advantage of Vegas?
