I miss Roy Roger's, I never see them anymore. The last one I knew of was in Penn Station in NYC but I don't know if it's still there.

in and out got its great reputaion from disgusting, fat people.

Its not that good. Some of the posters are right....you can see the in and out from the Rio....the one that everyon hits on their way out of town....but its f u ckin far.

People that love it...will die for it apparently. But, I am not a fast food afficionado. People from the west coast wish they had some type of kick ass food or something that was only availabel there. I pity these people that dont know about pork roll, scrapple, and WaWas.

If I was dying of hunger and had to choose between in and out and McDonalds....100% of the time, im choosing in and out.

The main reason that they are even a blip on the food radar, is bc they pay their employees like twice the wages that all the other fast food joints pay. They only hire the creme of the crop as far as high school fast food workers go. They are PROBABLY not spitting in your food, and having grill races.
They cut their own fries, which is cool. But, that doesnt make them not taste like cardboard and crap.

...and order how ever the hell you want.....this aint the sopu nazi, or a cheessteak place, where there can be reprecussions.

i would be more worried about where Im getting my Dunkin Donuts coffee. I have lived on the west coast for almost 12 years now, and have seen about 1000 commericials for dunkin Donuts, but I dare anyone to tell me where they are.

7,000 stores in 34 states, but I don't think I can name all of them. Obv not where you are.

LOL @ ANYONE saying Whataburger > In n Out. I live in Texas and I'd rather have Mickey D's then Whataburger.

I can't wait til we move...

Now, for a late night, gotta get something to eat to end the night drunk, NOTHING beats White Castle. God I miss sliders *sigh*.

There's a Roy Rogers on the NJ Turnpike Northbound rest area, right after the GSP on-ramp. I stop by there every time I have time on the way back from AC. I love piling on the tomatoes and crisp leaf lettuce. And mixing the honey and dijon mustard packets makes a great honey mustard sauce for the fries.

Having enjoyed Fuddrucker's last night at Foxwoods, I now wish we had one in LV. Better than Big Boy or Fatburger by far. The milk shake almost put me in a diabetic coma, but it's all a learning process.

I've been told by dealers (but can not confirm as of yet) that a Fuddruckers will be in the Orleans new food court when it is built.

In n Out is the only burger chain I've been to in California which has never screwed up my order.

My favorite at the drive through: "Double meat, easy on the spread, grilled onions and an order of fries". This goes for $3.83 in So Cal

As far as I know there are only Roy Rogers on the NJ Turnpike rest areas (maybe 2?) and there is one left on Long Island at Sunrise Highway and William Floyd Parkway in Shirley (Exit 68). I was at this Roy's last summer and found that it was nowhere close to what I remember from my youth.

Maybe they have to hire English-speakers because they expect non-standard orders?

In n Out is not a bad burger, but there are so many that are better.

Hamrick's 1/4 Burger in Hayward Ca

Nations Fremont Ca

Country Way Fremont Ca

The Owl San Antonio NM

The Outpost Carrizozo NM

These are all much better burgers.

Having now eaten at Fuddruckers over 100 times in the past 9 months (heck, I ate there for lunch today)......

I ate at the (somewhat) new, In & Out towards Summerlin a week or so ago & was not very wowed. YMMV.

Good burgers but they didn't have any mayo at the place, seriously? What sort of burger joint doesn't have mayo?

Mayo is the grossest thing in the world!

YMMV

All the best,

INO is alright but its menu is so tiny that it's just a novelty. I take Carl's Jr's menu over INO's any day of the week and for that reason if I want a good fastfood meal I go to Carl's for sure.

Also I dont get all these morons waiting in the drive-thru line 20 cars deep at every LA INO.. but thats just the thing with LA it's all about image and what's cool... whereas you go to Bay Area nobody cares about INO even though they still have lots of them around.

INO is a pretty good burger. I usually hit the INO at Trop and Dean Martin when in Vegas because we don't have them where I live. I tried the fries like three times, and decided I do not like. Now I just get a burger.

Ranking of burger speciality chains:

1) Five Guys

2) Fuddrucker's

3) Fatburger

4) In N' Out

All of these are certainly better than your standard fast food places (Wendy's, McDonald's, etc.). There are regional burger places that are better than some or all of them. For instance I'd rank Shake Shack (NYC) #1 above Five Guys. I'd put Kopp's (Milwaukee) #3. That's just off the top of my head. And yeah I've had fancy burgers better than these places too. But in terms of the cult-type burger specialty chains, these are the rankings as I see them. I enjoy all 4 places tremendously, but In N' Out is vastly inferior to Five Guys.

Since this thread has been brought back to life for the life of me can't see what the big deal is about In n Out. Most over-rated fast food restaurant ever IMO.

The burgers are fine, but the fries leave a lot to be desired. They are made from fresh-cut potatoes, but they are fried only once so they come out either cooked right and mushy, overcooked and a little crispy, or rock hard and McDonald's crispy (depending whether you order them normal, medium well, or well done). Plus you ain't gettin' a story to last a lifetime unless you break the 100x100 In-N-Out burger eating record, or someone gets hit by a car.

And there are actually folks who think Fatburger is better than In-n-Out. I'm not a huge burger aficionado so subtle difference are lost on me, but I think In-n-Out gets the nod.

The "correct" In-n-Out order, incidentally, is "2 by 2, animal style, fries medium well". You can get the fries animal style, too, but that's just a bit gooey for my taste.
Well... THAT is incorrect. It is actually a "Double, Double."

I actually like the fries animal style... and typically will go for a "2x4" (2 patties, 4 slices of cheese.)

Also, i suggest a chocolate shake as well.

In N' Out is definitely worth the trip.

Enjoy.
