Greetings Friends,

It’s the start of another extremely baller adventure. Here’s the plan:
On Wednesday, Ethan and I will be flying to Las Vegas from Hartford (through Detroit). We arrive at roughly 10pm Vegas time. AG$ will be arriving (from Phoenix) around 11:30. And my buddy Andrew will arrive (from Kalamazoo) around 11pm Thursday.

We’re going to be staying at three dope resorts: Ellis Island (Wed 5; Thurs 6), Virgin River (Fri 7), and “The Plaza” (Sat 8; Sun 9). Something must be going down in Vegas this weekend because the $37 room we’re staying in at Ellis Island is suddenly $120 Friday night, and that ain’t happening. Fortunately, Virgin River and the Plaza were both about $60, which isn’t too bad, and it’ll be dope to check out other spots.

We’re going to bet on all the NBA games we can muster, and probably play some cheap poker tournaments and low limit black jack.
Andrew has decided to bet on whichever coach looks the least racist. We’ll see how it pays off.

On Friday, we’re renting a car and going to check out some canyons. I had my acl reconstructed/meniscus repaired around Thanksgiving and my knee is still kinda medium, so we’ll see how climbing on stuff goes.

This is a fair point. Since we’re not going to get to wager until Thursday’s games, let’s do a little experiment:

Monday:
Trailblazers/T-Wolves: Blazers. Easily. Stotts seems like one of those dudes that has his own table in the back of a place in Chinatown. Thibodeau doesn’t.

Tuesday:
6ers/Nets: Sixers. Really a toss-up though - Brett Brown always looks so happy and kind, but Kenny Atkinson has acertain open-minded grit.
Hornets/Wizards: Hornets. Steve Clifford looks friendly and Scott Brooks has glasses.
Magic/Cavs: Cavs. Meh.
Raptors/Pacers: Raptors. Dwane Casey is the man. I don’t trust wide ties McMillan.
Nuggets/Pelicans: Pelicans. Another tough one.
Bucks/Thunder: Bucks. I haven’t ranked them but Billy Donovan’s haircut might put him last in the league.
Bulls/knicks: Hoiberg. I guess.
Grizzlies/Spurs: Fizdale. Obv.
Blazers/Jazz: Blazers. I struggled with this one. I just can’t get past the name Quinn. And Quinn definitely looks like a Quinn.
Timberwolves/Warriors: Warriors. Another terrible choice. I guess Blond skeletor is the play, but I’m really not sure.
Mavs/Kings: Kings. This one surprised me too. Joerger looks really pleasant when you google him. Who’d’ve guessed

Wed:
Heat/Hornets: Spoelstra. No question.
Raptors/Pistons: Raptors. Casey v vas Gundy
Thunder Grizzlies: Grizzlies. Three in a row are super obvious.
Nuggets/Rockets: Nuggets. I don’t trust D’antoni’s old man mustache.
Cavs/Celtics: Celtics. Brad Stevens looks just like somebody I went to high school with. Pleasant dude.
Lakers/Spurs: Spurs. Lesser of two evils. Get off my lawn Popovich vs Curly head frat boy.
Warriors/Suns: Suns. I guess.
Mavs/Clippers: Mavs. I went back and forth. Rick and Doc are both medium.

I immediately thought Donovan, confirmed racist. Specifically based on haircut. For all intents and purposes, I am a Thunder fan.

Then I thought of Brad Stevens. Think of all the dudes that you went to high school with that you were semi-cool with. Then looking back through facebook thought... Yeah, kinda racist.

Shoe:


Am excited. Work is hard. Focus limited. And I'm gonna have to go in for a couple hours tomorrow.

Only time I noticed the Super 8 that's the hotel for Ellis Island was an obvious hooker and John hanging outside. Looks like a fun place.

Had McDonald’s cone at Hartford airport. Was good. Didn’t get pic.

Got luckiest seat on the plane. Last row (no window), middle seat. Feeling good.



Lost a bit of money to Ethan playing peggle on his iPad.

Plane to Vegas delayed. Excited.

Detroit airport is super nice. Took the tram. And the walkway.

Went to Longhorn. Had a dope salad.


Went to Max and Erma's. Had a $9 beer. No worries: It's an airport, and it helps the time pass.

Made it to Ellis island. Already lost $80 on blackjack. Going couponing.

Played a poker tournament on the plane:

Went to the cafe at Tuscany for some late-night $5.99 steak and eggs.

Woke up after three hours sleep. I need to learn how to sleep in. AG$ and Ethan are still passed out. I'm gonna go throw some money on the Phillies money line and catch the 9am Bally's tourney. I got this. Probably.

Just so long as you start to learn after you have left Vegas.

Fired two bullets at Bally's. Ran poorly. Will try again later. Phil's lost. Not to worry though, couponing is going well and I'm on the shuttle en route to Rio to get some sweet gold coast and palms promotions

Bally's tourneys suck pretty badly. I think PHo's are probably a little better.

Something awesome happened!! While couponing at the Orleans, ag$ smashed quad aces on a video poke promo for over $500. Didn't think to get a pic of the aces but have the $513 balance (on a $5 free play).

Yeah it's not great. Still enough play for anyone competent to have a sizable edge, but that's more function of who's playing. We'll probably catch one at binion s or Golden Nugget once we're downtown

Lots of NBA action in play. Nets +1.5; bulls -6&over 209 parlay; and wizards -6. $120 or so each.
