Yes I have played full time and lived solely off of poker income in the past.

One thing I've learned it's not about quantity it's about quality of hours.

It's better to play 20-30 hours a week playing on juicy games (nights and weekends) than grinding hours during the day when it's full on nits.

1.) don't expect to be an online pro. Games are regfest and there isn't enough player pool to make it worth your time. If you play online but don't expect 40K income. If you're really as good as you say, you can play 2/5 or 5/10 and earning 40K is 10 times easier than making 40K online.
2.) buy a house before you move here as lenders will look at your current income. That's what I did. I bought a house before moving here as a second/vacation home.
3.) Afordable care act looks at your income. So if you're planning to move late 2015 or 2016, they will factor your 2014/15 income. So if you guys are getting 100K+ at your current job! your premiums will most likely be high.
4.) look into henderson, summerlin, mountains edge, southern highland if you want a nice house/neighborhood.
im pretty sure this is wrong.
you're asked to estimate your income for the year for which you're applying for obamacare. as long as your estimate is right you'll be fine.and with a few kids and wife he can make decent money with poker and still qualify.

We started doing our taxes ourselves this year but figure we will need a professional for the first year being in a new state on top of all the complexities of claiming poker as a profession for one of us.
FYI, Nevada has no state income tax

Here's an idea. Try Laughlin. It has nine casinos, plenty of action and Bulllhead City across the river is a large enough city for what ever you want from city life. Cost of living isn't bad. You're 90 miles (90 minutes) from LV where you can travel to play tournies and visit for fun but don't have the drag of a larger city. Nice palce to live right on the Colorado River.

No the move to NV is more than just about poker. I am sick of living in a bad climate area and FL with the humidity and storms they have is not ideal for me. My wife went to college in FL but said the only real casino gambling that went on were the daily casino boats that take you out to the sea for the day. Also I would have zero access to online poker down there.

Yea I am looking forward to that but I still have to deal with the federal taxes, moving expense deductions, and doing tax returns in both states because I will still have to account for all of this years taxes/income I am making in NY.

Yea I started to look into this and looks like the population is around 10,000 people. I wouldn't mind being 90 mins away from Vegas but the action in those casinos for poker does not look to promising based on the information I have been able to pull offline. Unless you could give me some more insight? Do you play at specific casinos and how are the players/prize pools?

I am pretty sure they are having major climate related issues down there. So much so that the governor has gone out of his way to pass legislation stating that they are not even allowed to reference the words global warming or climate change. I thought it seemed pretty whacked out too until I saw this information from this link http://www.upworthy.com/i-heard-rick...ilarious-video of where they were actually discussing the changes at a hearing. You can find the same story being reported on multiple news sites. This was a red flag for me. I have heard they had the one wpt in Jacksonville but outside of that I did not know they had a lot of options for poker down there.

Your wife's information is 5 years out of date, The gambling laws, including poker regulations, changed in Florida in 2010. I have 5 casinos & poker rooms within 30 minutes of my condo on Miami Beach and another 4 rooms within an additional 15-30 minute drive. That includes Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood, which is holding a $3,500 buy-in, $5,000,000 guaranteed tournament next month.

And the law is set to change again in Florida. Legislation was proposed earlier this month that would permit two destination resort casinos to open in South Florida that would offer craps, roulette and baccarat in addition to the usual slots and poker.

But if you are supporting a family you really need to put the hours in. If you are playing for a living you should be able to beat the games at any time of the day, whether the games are filled with nits or not.

BTW, I concur that Florida poker live poker scene is great.
