Hey guys, I was wondering what's keeping the Monte Carlo's prices so low still? I was aware it was partly down to building work nearby (T-mobile arena) but I've been told that's all finished now?

Can any Vegas residents divulge any hidden dangers of booking it for the series?

The hotel and casino are in the process of renovation. I'm staying there for two days starting Sunday, hope it isn't too horrendous.

I booked a few days for this summer and they said the pool would be closed, so I would assume they are still doing a lot of renovations (they said you could use other MGM pools). When I was there in December they were doing a lot of work in the walkway from from MC to Aria.

The property is a mess with all of the construction. Many of the amenities are closed. The poker room just closed. I believe the sportsbook is now gone. It is an easy walk to Aria or NYNY for what you can't find at Monte Carlo. You just have to gamble on the noise level.

How about no wifi in the rooms last time I looked.

1) how much time is one really spending IN their room to where that is a huge factor

2) with the advent of phones being able to be used as a mobile hot spot, the phone is probably more reliable than the hotel service would have been.

Huge plus imo, not only you can use the MGM pool but also the one from Mandalay bay.

Are they still making you pay resort fees?

Yes, $38 I believe. If that is the location you like fine, but I compared a random Wed Night in May and Bally's is $12 less, without all the construction. Bellagio is not much more of a walk than Monte to Aria.

Yeah probably not much of a factor. I just found it odd that they never offered wifi so I always bring it up when discussing the MC.

So.... how about paper thin walls and it really is a dreary lifeless casino. Being close to the Aria is its best feature.

I was just there a couple weeks ago and they actually did have wifi in the room for the first time.

People don't pay resort fees to have to go to another hotel's pool. Ridiculous. Resort fees should be suspended til the remodel is done.

Resort fee is $34 apparently.

Anyone know if the gym is still there / accessible? Not fussed about the pools..

Yeah thats why i was asking, that really is absurd. Plus with taxes its probably close to 40 bucks a night.

No way they would ever do that when the resort fees are so profitable for them.

Most of the casino actually looks the same. There are areas where changes are clearly taking place but I don't think it's that big of a deal.

I've stayed at Monte a lot the last few years. It's in a good spot and they keep giving me free rooms. I mostly play at Aria, which is a short easy walk from the Monte elevators. (much closer Monte to Aria poker room than Ballys to Bellagio poker room) The wifi is good, food court is decent, fitness center is above average(but they close at 6, which sucks when you want to go lift after a bad poker session), and Dragon Noodle has surprisingly good pho. Currently lobby is in a different location, pool is closed, along with the street of dreams. There is a boarded hallway from parking garage to current lobby, and also one connecting you to Aria. Poker room is officially gone, and the casino is pretty meh. For the price and location it's a good deal. Ask for a high floor. Rooms are basic, but not bad.

I'm currently booked for Monte Carlo for 3 night over mother day. I can switch to Aria for an additional $210. I'm on the fence. I've stayed at MC before mostly because it's close to Aria and I did enjoy the MC poker room. Now the MC poker room is gone and of course Aria is closer to Aria.

Also want a massage while I'm there and Aria spa is a bit more expensive than MC spa - I'd prefer to do it in the same property as I'm staying.

So many decisions involved in a Vegas trip

Ask yourself what $210 means to you. If it's an inconsequential number- or at least one that will only feel like a momentary, mild sting- I'd take it. If you're going to be thinking about the $210 all weekend, don't.
